On Monday night, the Miami Heat beat the Utah Jazz 119-115 at home in Florida.

With the victory, head coach Erik Spoelstra made NBA history, as he has now won his 697th game, which moves him to 20th on the all-time wins list (for head coaches).

He came into the night tied with Red Holzman (696), and the next coach for him to pass on the list will be John MacLeod (707).

Via The NBA: "Congrats to @MiamiHEAT coach Erik Spoelstra for moving up to 20th on the all-time COACHING WINS list!"

Spoelstra is in his 15th season as head coach of the Heat and has won two NBA Championships and been to the NBA Finals five times.

His coaching record is 697-486 in 1,183 regular season games and 161-96 in 257 NBA Playoff games.

Outside of San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, Spoelstra is the longest-tenured head coach in the NBA.

During his time with Miami, he has coached several all-time great players such as Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Ray Allen and Jimmy Butler.

With the win against the Jazz, the Heat are now 37-33 in 70 games, which has them as the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.

They improved to 23-13 in the 36 games they have hosted at home in Miami, Florida.

In two out of the last three seasons, the Heat have been to the Conference Finals and most recently made the NBA Finals in 2020.

On Wednesday evening, the Heat will play their next game when they host the Memphis Grizzlies.
