Andrew Wiggins Talks About Absence From Warriors

Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins talked to the media ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder to discuss his absence from the team.

Andrew Wiggins has not played for the Golden State Warriors since February 13 due to a personal family matter, but he is back with the team now and is going to be back on the floor in the coming week or so.

Ahead of Tuesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Wiggins spoke to the media alongside general manager Bob Myers and he discussed why his leave of absence of necessary.

"When you are in a certain situation and your family needs you, it requires your attention and your love. That's my first priority," Wiggins said. "My career, everything, family is always first for me and it will always be that way. I felt like I was in a safe space to come back and I feel like we had everything settled, not fully settled but in a safe place where I could come back."

According to NBA insider Shams Charania from The Athletic, Wiggins had been away from the Warriors due to his father dealin with a serious medical situation.

"I have been working out, but obviously the NBA is a different type of conditioning you need," Wiggins said in regards to when he could potentially return. "I don't think it will be too long before I'm up there."

As far as talking about the Warriors, Wiggins was very grateful for the comfort his team showed him throughout his absence.

"It was all love and support," Wiggins stated. "I had a lot of teammates just start hitting me up and sending their love and prayers. I just appreciated it all, it goes a long way. It means more than basketball."

Ahead of Tuesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Warriors find themselves with a 41-38 record, good enough for the 6-seed in the Western Conference.

With just three games left, the Warriors have no margin for error in order to avoid the Play-In Tournament, which is why getting Wiggins back at this point is critical.

However, no timeframe has been given by the team on when Andrew Wiggins may return to the floor.
