Steve Kerr Comments On Andrew Wiggins' Absence On Wednesday

Following Wednesday night's victory over the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors head coach commented on Andrew Wiggins' absence from the team.

Andrew Wiggins last played for the Golden State Warriors on February 13, as he has been away from the team since due to a private family/personal matter.

The team has respected his privacy and have been adamant on the fact that they are giving their All-Star forward the time he needs before returning to the team, but many have been asking in recent weeks when/if Wiggins will return to the Warriors.

Defeating the Dallas Mavericks 127-125 on Wednesday in a game the Warriors needed to have in order to avoid falling into the Play-In Tournament region of the Western Conference standings, Golden State now has just eight games remaining on their schedule.

Following this win, head coach Steve Kerr was once again asked about Andrew Wiggins and whether or not he will return this season.

"We love Wigs, he's a huge part of our team. He's a great player, but he's a great human being, he's a great teammate and I love coaching him," Kerr stated. "Anytime you see one of your guys struggling and dealing with something, all you can do is just support that player and give him space and that's what we have tried to do.

"Our players and our coaches, front-office, we are all thinking about him every day and if he comes back, great. If he doesn't come back, that's fine too. We just want to make sure that he's in a good place, taking care of his family and we will see how it plays out."

In recent weeks, general manager Bob Myers has stated that he has not heard anything suggesting that Wiggins would not return at some point this year.

As a team, the Warriors have respected Wiggins' wishes of not giving any details on why he is not with the organization and any players who have been asked about Andrew Wiggins, including Stephen Curry recently, have just issued their support for their teammate.

The Warriors will play their next game on Friday at home against the Philadelphia 76ers. With another victory and a loss by the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, Golden State can move up to the 5-seed in the Western Conference.
