Warriors' Star In Danger Of Another One-Game Suspension

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green now has 17 technical fouls on the season following Tuesday night’s victory over the New Orleans Pelicans and will serve a one-game suspension should he pick up his 18th technical foul before the end of the season.

Draymond Green has been instrumental in the success of the Golden State Warriors dynasty. However, his actions on the court and constant talking to the referees sometimes gets him in trouble in regards to technical fouls.

Already serving a one-game suspension this season as a result of picking up 16 technical fouls on the year, which warrants a one-game suspension per league rules, Green recently picked up his 17th technical foul of the season in Tuesday night’s victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

After Green fouled Pelicans star forward Brandon Ingram in transition, the two came together face-to-face and had to be separated by their teammates and officials. Crew chief Ed Malloy immediately stepped in and issued technical fouls to both players.

Not only will Green receive a $5,000 fine from the NBA for picking up his 17th technical foul of the season, but he is now one technical foul away from serving another one-game suspension, as each two additional techs following the 16th on the season results in an automatic one-game suspension.

The Warriors have just five games remaining on their schedule and they cannot afford to lose Green for any of these games, as he is the heart-and-soul of their organization.

Fortunately for Golden State, Draymond Green was not ejected from Tuesday’s game and he was a key reason why they were able to sprout a second-half comeback in a game they needed to win to avoid falling into the Play-In Tournament region of the Western Conference standings.

“Draymond willed us to victory tonight," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the win. "Just the intensity, the frustration early with the way we were playing. Mad at the world, yelling at everybody, their bench, our bench, me, and frankly, we deserved it.”

As far as preparing for the next game and not trying to pick up another technical foul, Draymond Green does not seem prepared to change his style of play.

“I've got to play with the same intensity I try to play with each and every time I step on the court," Green said. "I can't worry about that. For me, if I'm going to change my intensity level, then why be out there?”

Having the next few days off to recuperate and get ready for their last five games of the regular season, the Warriors will be back in action at home on March 31 against the San Antonio Spurs, who own the third-worst record in the NBA this season.
