Kevin Durant Can Make NBA History In Timberwolves-Suns Game

Kevin Durant can make NBA history during Wednesday's game.

On Wednesday evening, the Phoenix Suns are hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves in Arizona.

13-time All-Star Kevin Durant has missed each of the last ten games due to an ankle injury, but Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports that he will make his return against the Timberwolves.

Charania: "After missing 10 games with a sprained ankle, Phoenix Suns All-NBA star Kevin Durant will make his return Wednesday vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves barring setback, league sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium."

During the game, Durant has an excellent chance to make NBA history.

The former Texas star comes into the night with 4,250 assists, which ranks 101st on the all-time list

He only needs three assists to pass Grant Hill (4,252) and move into the top 100.

On the season, Durant is averaging 5.3 assists per contest, and in the three games that he has played for the Suns, he has averaged 3.7 assists.

Therefore, it's likely that the 34-year-old will be able to move ahead of Hill on Wednesday night.

While Durant is rightfully known as one of the best scorers in NBA history, he has also been an underrated passer.

In 2022, he averaged a career-high 6.4 assists per contest (while he was on the Brooklyn Nets).

Right now, the Suns are the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 40-35 record in 75 games.

They are 4-6 in their last ten games but also in the middle of a two-game winning streak.

At home, the Suns have been excellent, going 24-12 in the 36 games they have hosted in Arizona.
