On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers were at Madison Square Garden facing off with the New York Knicks.

During the game, LeBron James made NBA history three different times.

For starters, he moved to fourth on the all-time assists list.

The 38-year-old came into the night needing eight assists to pass Mark Jackson for fifth (and nine assists to pass Steve Nash for fourth).

He finished the game with 28 points, ten rebounds and 11 assists (he now has 10,338 assists for his career and passed both Jackson and Nash).

In addition to passing Jackson and Nash, he also became the only player to ever record a triple-double in their 20th season.

Via NBA History: "LeBron James is the 1st player in NBA history to record a triple-double in their 20th season or later.

More history for the 👑 "

The Lakers beat the Knicks 129-123 in overtime to improve to 24-28 in 52 games.

They are the 13th seed in the Western Conference but only three games out of the tie for the fifth seed.

James is in his 20th season in the NBA (fifth with the Lakers), and has been playing tremendously through his first 41 games.

The four-time NBA Champion is averaging an outstanding 30.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.1 assists per contest.

Out of his first 19 seasons, James has only averaged 30+ points per contest in a season just three times.

The Lakers will play their next game on Thursday evening when they visit Myles Turner and the Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis.
