Trail Blazers Officially Sign Former Hawks Guard

On Thursday, the Portland Trail Blazers officially announced that they have signed former Atlanta Hawks guard Skylar Mays to a 10-day contract.

Nearing the end of the regular season with almost half of their roster on the injury report, the Portland Trail Blazers have added a new face to their locker room.

On Thursday, the team officially announced that they have signed former 2020 second-round pick Skylar Mays to a 10-day contract, basically signing him for the remainder of the season.

Drafted 50th overall in 2020, Mays began his career with the Atlanta Hawks and spent the last two seasons in Atlanta.

Playing in a total of 61 career games with the Hawks, Mays recording career averages of 3.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per game while shooting 46.9 percent from the floor.

During the 2022-23 season, Mays has played with the Delaware Blue Coats, the G League affiliates of the Philadelphia 76ers, as well as the Mexico City Capitanes.

Playing in a combined 29 games for these teams, Skylar Mays has averaged 14.1 points, 5.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 43.1 percent from the floor in the G League.

Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons, Jerami Grant, Jusuf Nurkic and Justise Winslow are all expected to miss the remainder of the regular season with Portland's chances of making the playoffs extremely thin and with both Trendon Watford and Cam Reddish banged up, the Blazers are needing some extra depth on their bench.

Skylar Mays will join rookie Shaedon Sharpe, Ryan Arcidiacono and Keon Johnson in the Trail Blazers backcourt for the remainder of the season.

His first chance to play with Portland will come on Friday when the Trail Blazers once again host the Sacramento Kings, who beat the Blazers 120-80 on Wednesday night.
