Will Carmelo Anthony Play In The NBA This Season?

Carmelo Anthony is still a free agent more than halfway through the 2022-23 NBA season.

The 2022-23 NBA season is more than halfway through, but one of the best players in the history of the league (Carmelo Anthony) still remains a free agent.

Last season, the ten-time NBA All-Star averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 69 regular season games for the Los Angeles Lakers.

He also shot 44.1% from the field and 37.5% from the three-point range.

Will he play in the NBA this season?

NBA teams were allowed to begin signing players to ten-day contracts on January 5, which makes the chances of a young player (or an aging veteran like Anthony) more likely to get picked up..

Another key date that is on the horizon is the NBA Trading Deadline (February 9)

Anthony could be a viable candidate if teams do not get their needs met (or have to fill out the roster after a big trade).

There is no question that he still has the ability to be a role player (off the bench) on plenty of teams.

Recently, notable NBA trainer Chris Brickley posted a video of the 38-year-old in the gym.

Brickley captioned the post: "If you telling me @carmeloanthony can’t bring BIG value to an NBA team right now then you buggin! Today we went thru a 60 minute workout, he was looking very light on his feet & his skill set looked A1! Top 10 Scorer of ALL TIME! & he still got it!! 📸 @harrington1313"

In addition to the Lakers, Anthony has also played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets.

His career averages are 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals per contest in 1,260 games.

More than likely, he will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
