Shocking Team Named As Possible Destination For Chris Paul

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned the Golden State Warriors as a team who could sign Chris Paul if he became a free agent.

Chris Paul has been one of the best players in the NBA for nearly two decades and is coming off a year where he averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.5 steals per contest for the Phoenix Suns.

That said, Paul got injured during the Playoffs, and the Suns ended up losing to the Denver Nuggets in six games.

The future Hall of Famer has $15.8 million guaranteed left on his contract, which would pay him $30.8 million for the 2023-24 season.

Recently, Paul has been mentioned in many rumors about his future with the Suns.

Before Game 4 of the NBA Finals, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the latest on the situation and mentioned the Golden State Warriors as a possibility for the 12-time NBA All-Star.

Wojnarowski: "There are teams that would like to see if they could stack up enough contracts to take on his $30 million for this season and keep him. Perhaps, even flip him at the trade deadline. There are other teams who would trade for him and treat it like a salary cap savings. They would not guarantee his contract before that June 28th deadline and then he would become a free agent. If Chris Paul is out there as a free agent this summer, look at the two teams in L.A. (the Clippers and Lakers), the Knicks in New York, the Golden State Warriors. Those would all be potential destinations for Chris Paul, who would then sign a deal at a much lower number than the $30 million he's guaranteed in Phoenix if he stays there past that June 28th deadline."

All of the teams that Wojnarowski noted were fascinating, but the Warriors are arguably the most surprising.

Paul is 38 years old and has also had stints with the New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder.
