F1 News: Carlos Sainz On Spanish GP P2 - "Left Nothing On The Table"

The Ferrari driver sees him on the front row after an exciting qualifying session.

Spanish F1 star Carlos Sainz delivered a stellar performance at the Barcelona Grand Prix qualifying, securing P2 behind the dominant Max Verstappen. This proved to be a very contrasting result to his teammate Charles Leclerc who finished P19. Talking after qualifying, the Ferrari driver admitted that he "didn't leave anything on the table".

Sainz shared his experience with Marc Gené in a post-session interview, expressing how tough it was to deliver a strong lap time given the day's unpredictable weather.

“I needed it, very tricky conditions. Even getting through Q1 and Q2 without any issues. Putting a good lap with only one set in Q3. was probably one of the trickiest qualifying sessions I have had here in terms of conditions,” said Sainz.

The Spanish driver, high on his qualifying success, is now setting his sights on a podium finish tomorrow, confident that he is in the best possible position for the race. Sainz said:

“I think we are in the best possible position going into tomorrow and now we can focus on getting the podium tomorrow.

"I was very good today, I felt like I was driving very well. It's always one tenth here, one tenth there. I didn't leave anything on the table today, I was pushing hard. It was hard. I think P2 was as far as I could make it today.”

Sainz took a moment to express his gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support in his native Spanish, acknowledging their role in his performance.

“Thank you, today as you could see it was tricky for everyone out there, the conditions were realistically hard, and the fans definitely helped my lap time in this Q3, in Q1, Q2 and Q3 as well, because in every session I was on the limit and tomorrow I will go for the podium.”

As Sainz shifts his focus onto the race, it's clear that he's not just driving for himself, but also for the fans who've helped fuel him to his success today.
