F1 News: Charles Leclerc Pokes Fun At Lewis Hamilton Ferrari Rumours In Hilarious Monaco Moment

Charles Leclerc has poked fun at the recent rumours of Lewis Hamilton being offered a Ferrari contract.

When asked about what qualities he seeks in a teammate, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc decided to humour the ongoing rumour mill. He greeted seven-time champion, Lewis Hamilton, sparking chuckles. But don't let that distract you. He swiftly shifted to talk about his present teammate, Carlos Sainz, with respect and admiration.

These little jests come amidst swirling rumours of a potential seat swap between the two or a driver pairing of Leclerc and Hamilton. Despite repeated insistence from both racers about their commitment to their respective teams - Hamilton to Mercedes and Leclerc to Ferrari - the rumours continue to create a buzz.

Leclerc was quizzed on what he looks for in a teammate during the drivers' press conference ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, to which he jokingly responded:

“Hello Lewis!"

He then quickly continued:

“I mean, a fast team-mate, as everybody. We are in Formula 1, and we love to be fighting against the best.

“But that’s not to say that my team-mate is not fast. Carlos is an extremely fast driver.

“But yeah, considering that, I mean, I’m not the person who makes the choices. So yeah, let’s see.”

The Monegasque driver was asked if he would be happy to have Hamilton as his teammate and of course he was very complimentary of the idea. He replied:

“If I say yes, I imagine it being the title of every newspaper.

“But I mean, Lewis is such an incredible driver, has achieved so much in the sport. So, I think anybody on the grid will love to have Lewis as a team-mate, as everybody will learn a lot from him.

“But yeah, again, I’m happy where I am. And with Carlos, it’s a great relationship too.”
