Lewis Hamilton has championed Yuki Tsunoda for his recent efforts in "helping out on the ground" following the horrific flooding in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy.

It was confirmed on Wednesday morning that the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix had been cancelled for the safety of those involved as well as leaving the emergency services to continue with their critical work helping those in need.

Yuki Tsunoda was spotted in the days after helping to clear the streets with some members of his team. The Japanese driver has lived in the Faenza area of Italy since the end of his first F1 season, to be close to the AlphaTauri headquarters.

The AlphaTauri driver has since shared a video to social media, explaining:

"Hello everyone, it's Yuki here from Faenza. The Emilia Romagna region is still in a really bad situation and please help if you can."

The driver went on to explain how anyone who wants to donate can do so. We have put a link here should you want to.

The video goes on to feature other famous faces who are sending their well-wishes to those affected by the flooding.

Hamilton commented on the video, writing:

"Thinking of all you at the team and your families. Sending prayers of warmth and hope that this passes soon."

The seven-time champion, who has always been passionate about using his platform to fight against racism and for increased inclusivity, the LGBTQ+ community, and diversity, then shared the video to his Instagram stories praising Tsunoda for his amazing efforts. He wrote:

"A big up to Yuki Tsunoda and his team for leading by example and helping out on the ground."
