NHL DFS: Slap Shot - 8/7
The final game tonight begins at 10:45 PM ET and we have teams who are on the verge of joining the Rangers on the golf course today. It's also Sidney Crosby's birthday, so a nice vacation would be a perfect gift for him. There are also no round-robin games today, so this should be a terrific day of Playoff Hockey.
Favorite Line Stacks
With all six games (five for DFS purposes) today being playoff series, I am focused more on the games themselves I want a part of rather than this team or that team. I think you'll want to obviously identify the lines to target but going with a correlation within the game for a high scoring spot makes a ton of sense today.
OILERS v BLACKHAWKS
So this is the obvious game on the board and it's not worth going away from it. The 'lower' scoring game in the series was game three and I do not see a good Edmonton team bowing out in four games on technically their "home" ice even if they are not getting the final line change. Pick your side and ride it, but Edmonton wins and McDavid scores a hat trick as a must own. Oscar Klefbom didn't get a point in the last game despite playing 27 minutes. If they're scoring 5 today, he will somehow be involved.
McDavid, Nugent-Hopkins, Klefbom (EDM)
Brandon Saad (CHI)
PREDATORS v COYOTES
The Predators are desperate but unfortunately for them they aren't that good. This rolls one of two ways either Darcy Keumper comes out and stonewalls them in a hot goalie fashin with a 40 save shutout effort or the Predators extend the series in a thrilling 4-3 game. I am leaning this being a thrilling game but the problem is knowing exactly what Nashville intends to do with their lines. If JOFA is together then that's the spot I'll be riding while Christian Dvorak-Taylor Hall combination proves to be consistent for Arizona and underpriced. Although a Derek Stepan random value center goal today is itching at me.
Ryan Johansen, Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson (NSH)
Christian Dvorak, Taylor Hall (ARI)
Derek Stepan (ARI) - For you risk takers.
CANUCKS v WILD
Coming off a back to back game that was low scoring, the Wild and Canucks will battle it out with the better team IMO (Vancouver) holding the 2-1 series edge. While I believe Vancouver is better, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Wild flip yesterday's game around and send this to a 5th and final game.
Staal, Fiala, Spurgeon or Dumba (MIN)
Oscar Klefbom (EDM)
Jared Spurgeon (MIN)
Matt Dumba (MIN)
Shea Weber (MTL)
Tyler Myers (VAN) - Value Play
Carey Price (Canadiens)
Joonas Korpisalo (Columbus)
