NBA DFS Plays & Values: Droppin Dimes for Friday, February 19th

SI NBA DFS analyst Stephen Marsella runs through his top NBA daily fantasy plays
Publish date:

Tonight brings a nine-game slate starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. Droppin Dimes will go over my favorite plays for the slate. It will have one player at each position with a full write-up, and a few value plays. These are my favorite options. You won't always see the highest-priced players or the most obvious plays. Players listed first at each position are my favorite and a good start to build a lineup around.

(Note: All pricing and fantasy points are based on DraftKings but can be used for all sites.)

Defensive Matchups

The Suns get the best matchup (Pelicans) on the board tonight. This game is a good one to target as it rates well overall. The Bucks/Thunder games rates out well also.

Note: Keep an eye on the injury status of players as they can be ruled out right before lock.

If-then situations: If a player sits out, then the player listed after is the play.

  • Draymond Green: Eric Paschall
  • Jaylen Brown: Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, Grant Williams
  • Kyle Lowry: Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, and DeAndre Bembry (If Lowry plays, he is too cheap for this matchup.)
  • Mike Conley: Joe Ingles and Donovan Mitchell
  • Dillon Brooks: Grayson Allen, Desmond Bane

Chris Paul, Phoenix Suns ($7,700)

The game between the Suns and Pelicans rates out as one of the best on the night. It should be a high-scoring game with a tight spread and a pace-up spot for the Suns. Paul has played well as of late, averaging 45 fantasy points over the last four games. His minutes have been solid, playing around 33 per game over the last four as well. The Pelicans started the season playing good defense but have fallen to the bottom as of late. They rank 30th overall and 27th against opposing point guards—a good night for Paul to drop a 50-burger.

Also consider: Stephen Curry (Smash spot. Magic rank 23rd in overall defense.), Kemba Walker (Rates out as one of the best point guards), Ja Morant (Playing at a high level again)

VALUE: Michael Carter-Williams, Jordan McLaughlin

Bryn Forbes, Milwaukee Bucks ($3,600)

Forbes has been playing close to 30 minutes game over the last six. He has scored double-digit points in all but one of those games and posted 20 or more fantasy points in three of the six games in that timeframe. The matchup is what I am looking at tonight as the Thunder rank as one of the worst defensive teams over the last 15 days. This game should also run at a fast pace, which will help Forbes upside a bit. I have him projected at 21.7 fantasy points for tonight, which would make him a nice value at only $3,600.

Also consider: Fred VanVleet (Especially if Lowry sits), Zach LaVine (Guards against the Sixers.)

VALUE: Desmond Bane, Garrett Temple

Cedi Osman Cleveland Cavaliers ($4,800)

The Cavaliers will be without Taurean Prince again tonight and are already down Larry Nance and will no longer be playing Andre Drummond. This opens up a start and 30 plus minutes for Osman. He is averaging .85 fantasy points per minute on the year and gets a plus matchup as the Nuggets rank 27th against opposing small forwards. My model has him projected as one of the best values and seventh highest rated player on the slate, projected at 33.4 fantasy points.

Also consider: Michael Porter Jr., Joe Ingles

VALUE: Danilo Gallinari, Cam Reddish, Pat Connaughton

Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors ($7,700)

The Raptors played the Timberwolves a few games ago, and Siakam played 37 minutes and posted 42 fantasy points on 6-19 shooting. Add a few more hit shots, and he puts up 50+ fantasy points. He has played well over the last two games averaging 38.5 minutes and 50 fantasy points. The Raptors may be without Kyle Lowry again, and this is an elite matchup for him. I have him projected for 46.2 with a ceiling of 57.2 fantasy points.

Also consider: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Just dropped 75 on the Thunder a few games ago), Jayson Tatum (Lock if Brown is out), Zion Williamson

VALUE: Jae Crowder (Elite spot against the Pelicans), Bobby Portis, Jaden McDaniels

Guillermo”Willy” Hernangomez, New Orleans Pelicans ($3,900)

Hernangomez should get the start with Adam's likely out. He is a 1.15 fantasy points per minute player and should see around 25-30 minutes. The price and minutes are appealing. I expect him to be a chalk player tonight, coming in at around 40-50%. If you are making multiple lineups, it may be a good idea to fade him in at least one.

Also consider: Nikola Vucevic (Rates out as one of the best centers.), Clint Capela (Had his way with the Celtics last game), Nikola Jokic

VALUE: Derrick Favors, Daniel Theis
