NBA DFS Plays & Values: Droppin Dimes for Wednesday, February 24th

SI NBA DFS analyst Stephen Marsella runs through his top NBA daily fantasy plays
Publish date:

Tonight brings a nine-game slate starting at 7:30 p.m. ET. Droppin Dimes will go over my favorite plays for the slate. It will have one player at each position with a full write-up and a few value plays. These are my favorite options. You won't always see the highest-priced players or the most obvious plays. Players listed first at each position are my favorite and a good start to build a lineup around.

Defensive Matchups

This chart shows a breakdown of today's games with point totals, pace, spread, and opponents' overall defense rating over the last 15 days. It is a good place to start. I recently added a team rating and game rating. This will help determine what team and or game are in good spots.

Keep an eye on the injury status of players as they can be ruled out right before lock.

Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors ($10,000)

Curry has played well as of late, putting up 50 or more fantasy points in four straight games. He has averaged 36 minutes, 23 shot attempts, 56.4 fantasy points, 31.2 points, 5 rebounds, and 8.5 assists in that time-frame. The Warriors are playing the Pacers tonight in what should be a fast-paced and high-scoring game. This will allow Curry to exceed the 60 fantasy point mark tonight possibly. His solid minutes, ability to score and drop dimes, along with recent play, make him an excellent play tonight at the point guard position.

Also consider: Dejounte Murray, Trae Young (Easy 50 burger)

VALUE: Saben Lee, Payton Pritchard

Patty Mills, SA Spurs ($4,300)

The Spurs will be down a few of their main players, DeMar DeRozan, Kendall Johnson, and Derrick White. They will finally get back LaMarcus Aldridge tonight, which gives them ten active players. With DeRozan and White out, Mills should play close to 30 plus minutes tonight with these players off the out tonight. On the season, he is averaging .85 fantasy points per minute and playing 25.5 minutes. An increase in minutes and usage to go along with an excellent matchup against the 22nd ranked defense (OKC Thunder) make him an excellent play tonight.

Also consider: Jaylen Brown, Zach LaVine

VALUE: Lonnie Walker IV, Tony Snell

Josh Hart, New Orleans Pelicans ($4,900)

Hart has been playing solid minutes as of late, averaging over 30 in the last five games. He has played well with the increase in minutes with two 40 plus fantasy point performances in those five games. A good rebounding small forward with the ability to score and add some defensive stats. On the season, Hart is averaging .87 fantasy points per minute, which rates out well with the increase in minutes and nice matchup he has tonight against the Pistons. I have him projected for 26.7 fantasy points and possibly exceeding the 30 mark tonight.

Also consider: David Nwaba (High on him if Oladipo is out again)

VALUE: Jaden McDaniels, Dylan Windler, Aaron Nesmith

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics ($9,200)

The Celtics are on the second half of a back-to-back, which means Kemba Walker is out tonight. This opens up a few more minutes and some additional usage for Tatum and a few other Celtic players. When Walker is off the floor, Tatum has a 33% usage rate. He rates out as the fourth-best player on my model today, coming in at a 51.5 fantasy point projection. This is an excellent matchup that Tatum and the Celtics just saw twice a few games ago. He dropped a 50 and 55 fantasy point performance in those two games. The Hawks rank 24th against opposing power forwards. This should be another solid performance from him tonight.

Also consider: Jeremy Grant, Doug McDermott

VALUE: Daniel Theis, Dario Saric, Trey Lyles

Jarrett Allen, Cleveland Cavaliers ($7,700)

The Cavaliers have put Drummond on the shelf until further notice. This allowed Allen to start and average 37.7 minutes and 49.1 fantasy points over the last three games. The Rockets have no true center and have been using PJ Tucker, who is listed as 6'5". They have been getting smashed by opposing centers as of late. Allen should have no problem scoring, rebounding, or doing whatever he wants. This makes him an excellent play, and he is rated as the third player on my model. I have him projected at 47.7 fantasy points but expect him to drop a 50 burger.

Also consider: Karl-Anthony Towns (Starting to play well. He should smash the Bulls at low ownership), Clint Capela (No one on the Celtics can contain him)

VALUE: JaVale McGee
