Tonight brings a six-game slate starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. Droppin Dimes will go over my favorite plays for the slate. It will have one player at each position with a full write-up and a few value plays. These are my favorite options. You won't always see the highest-priced players or the most obvious plays. Players listed first at each position are my favorite and a good start to build a lineup around.
(Note: All pricing and fantasy points are based on DraftKings but can be used for all sites.
This chart shows a breakdown of today's games with point totals, pace, spread, and opponents' overall defense rating over the last 15 days. It is a good place to start. I recently added a team rating and game rating. This will help determine what team and or game are in good spots.
The Grizzlies/Wizards game stands out as a top game to target.
Keep an eye on the injury status of players as they can be ruled out right before lock.
If-then situations: If a player sits out, then the player listed after is the play.
- Jimmy Butler: Kendrick Nunn, Bam Adebayo, Goran Dragic (NOTE: If Butler plays, I have a lot of interest in him. He has been coming close to a triple-double almost every night) Excellent matchup.
- Jaylen Brown: Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum get a bump. Daniel Theis as well.
- Kyle Anderson: Xavier Tillman, Desmond Bane
Game of the Night
Wizards/Grizzlies- Highest-rated game. High total, fast-paced, and both teams in bottom seven in defensive ranking.
GPP Play of the Night
NOTE: The five players listed below allow $8,200 for the remaining three players.
Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies ($7,000)
The price has come down to a point where it is very hard to pass up on Morant, especially in a matchup against the Wizards. Morant is coming off a game where he only played 26 minutes and took eight shots. This was due to a blowout against the Rockets. Tonight, the Grizzlies play the Wizards, who are 7-3 over the last ten games. The game has a one-point spread, so it should stay close. Also, this is a pace-up spot for the Grizzlies as they gain 4.3 possessions. The Wizards rank 29th in overall defensive efficiency over the past 15 days. Morant comes in as the second=highest rated player on my model tonight and is projected for 44.2 fantasy points.
Also consider: Russell Westbrook, Goran Dragic & Kendrick Nunn (Solid plays if Butler is out)
VALUE: Donte DiVincenzo, Patrick Beverley
Derrick Rose, New York Knicks ($5,900)
Rose has been starting in the absence of Elfrid Payton. He has been playing 30+ minutes over the last four games. In that timeframe, he is averaging 35.5 fantasy points and scored double-digit points. The Knicks play against the Spurs, who have allowed the 10th most fantasy points over the last 15 days. Also, the Spurs rank 25th against opposing points guards, which Rose plays. On Draftkings, he is listed as both point guard and shooting guard, which helps in this situation. Rose is the No. 1 rated player on my model tonight, coming in at 46.2 fantasy points.
Also consider: Khris Middleton (Dropped 63 fantasy points against the Nuggets earlier this year), Lonnie Walker IV
VALUE: Monte Morris
Justise Winslow, Memphis Grizzlies ($3,900)
Winslow is finally back on the court after being out for 13 months due to an injury. He has played the last four games JD averaged 22.5 minutes and just shy of 20 fantasy points (.96 fantasy points per minute). The minutes were limited a bit due to blowouts in three of the four games. In the one closer game, he saw 26 minutes. I expect the game tonight against the Wizards will be close, and he should see around 25 minutes in an excellent matchup. The Grizzlies get a nice 4.3 bump in pace, and a matchup against the 29th ranked defensive over the past 15 days. I have Winslow projected for 24.8 fantasy points which is a 6.4 times return.
Also consider: Kawhi Leonard (50+ fantasy points against the Celtics in last two games), RJ Barrett (Minutes are back up)
VALUE: Wiil, Barton, Desmond Bane, Pat Connaughton
Markieff Morris, Los Angeles Lakers($3,400)
Morris has seen a nice bump in minutes with Anthony Davis off the floor averaging around 24 minutes over the past four games. In this timeframe, he has put up two games over 24 fantasy points. The fact that he started the last three games, his increase in minutes, price, and him going up against the team he started with are reasons I am targeting him tonight. The Suns have been good defensively this year, but one area you can target them at is the power forward position. I see him playing well enough to put 20 plus fantasy points tonight.
Also consider: John Collins (Last three games 58, 37.5, and 32.8--1.37 fantasy points per minute. Price barely moved), Julius Randle (Smashing as of late), Giannis Antetokounmpo
VALUE: Davis Bertans
Nerlens Noel, New York Knicks ($5,200)
The second Knick player I have an interest in is Noel. Over the last two games, he has played 40 and 41 minutes which was a bump from him previously playing around 24-30 minutes. He is averaging a fantasy point per minute on the season, and I have him projected to play around 35 minutes. This calculates out to be 35 fantasy points. Add in the 4.3 pace bump the Knicks get and the good defensive matchup, and he could see close to 40 fantasy points tonight. The Spurs have been known for their defense, but over the past 15 days, they have allowed the 10th most fantasy points to opposing teams. Noel also brings those defensive stats to the table each night, averaging two blocks and a steal a game.
Also consider: Jonas Valanciunas, Bam Adebayo (44+ fantasy points in nine straight games)
VALUE: Xavier Tillman, Robin Lopez
