Tonight brings an eight-game slate starting at 7:00 p.m. ET.
If you're new to "Droppin Dimes," we will go over my favorite plays for the slate. It will have one player at each position with a full write-up and a few value plays. These are my favorite options. You won't always see the highest-priced players or the most obvious plays. Players listed first at each position are my favorite and a good start to build a lineup around.
(Note: All pricing and fantasy points are based on DraftKings but can be used for all sites.)
This chart shows a breakdown of today's games with point totals, pace, spread, and opponents' overall defense rating over the last 15 days. It is a good place to start. I recently added a team rating and game rating. This will help determine what team and or game are in good spots.
Keep an eye on the injury status of players as they can be ruled out right before lock.
Games of the Night: Golden State Warriors vs. Milwaukee Bucks & Chicago Bulls vs. Indiana Pacers
Malachi Flynn, Toronto Raptors ($3,900)
The Raptors will once again be without Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet. Flynn should see similar minutes to the last two games where he averaged about 32.5. Flynn averaged 16 points over those two games, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and three steals for 37.5 fantasy points. The Raptors play the Lakes tonight, who has been a solid defense on the year but have lacked a bit with the injuries to Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Flynn comes in with a 26.7 projection for tonight but could see closer to 30. At his price, this is a very good value.
Also consider: Trae Young (Bounce-back game after a very poor performance. Fast-paced game and Pelicans allowed the fourth-most fantasy points over the past 15 days.), Stephen Curry
Value: TJ McConnell (A lock if Brogdon sits out), Rajon Rondo
Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics ($4,900)
Smart has played well as of late, averaging 33.4 minutes and 32.2 fantasy points over the last five games. He will not come out and score 20+ every night or grab 10+ rebounds, but what he does is contribute in all categories. An excellent defender who accrues steals, and blocks each night and does better in faster-paced games like tonight against the Sixers. The Celtics get a +3 pace increase, which is second-best on the slate. The Sixers are a good defensive team, but one area to target them is at the guard position. Also, Smart has played well against the Sixers in the past averaging 35.4 DraftKings points over the last four games against them. He comes in with a 32.8 projection tonight, but I expect him to exceed that in this faster-paced game.
Also consider: Paul George, Caris LeVert
Value: Hamidou Diallo, Kevin Huerter, Grayson Allen continues to play well as a starter
Aaron Gordon, Denver Nuggets ($6,300)
Gordon fit right in on his new team. It only took him a few games to get back in his groove. Over the last two games, Gordon has played 37.5 minutes and averaged 40 fantasy points, with one of those games against the Clippers a tougher defense. Tonight, he gets an elite matchup against the Detroit Pistons, who rank last against opposing power forwards. This is also a nice pace-up spot for the Nuggets, which will help their fantasy production.
He comes in as a top ten rated player for tonight, right above Zubac with a protection of 35 fantasy points. He could exceed the 40 point mark in this matchup tonight.
Also consider: Jimmy Butler, Kyle Kuzma
Value: DeAndre Bembry, Talen Horton-Tucker
Danilo Gallinari, Atlanta Hawks ($5,700)
Gallinari has been efficient as of late, playing 26.5 minutes and scoring 27 fantasy points over the last five games (1 FPPM). Over the past two games, he has averaged 38 fantasy points in 33.5 minutes and posted double/doubles in both games. The Hawks will still be without John Collins, Cam Reddish, and DeAndre Hunter, which should secure Galo at around 25-30 minutes. The Hawks get an excellent matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, who have been one of the worst defensive teams as of late. Another good spot for Galo to shine tonight.
Also consider: Jerami Grant. Giannis Antetokounmpo
Value: Kyle Anderson, Doug McDermott if Sabonis sits out, Marcus Morris Sr.
Ivica Zubac, Los Angeles Clippers ($5,400)
Zubac continues to play close to 30 minutes a night with Serge Ibaka still out. Tonight, he gets an excellent matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers, who have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing centers over the past seven days. He comes in as a top ten rated player on my model for tonight with a 33.6 protection (6.2 times value). This includes his recent play, increase in pace, defensive matchup. I expect a solid night for Zubac, who should easily pick up a double/double in this matchup. I'm calling for 15/12 with a few defensive stats.
Also consider: Joel Embiid, Clint Capela
Value: Guillermo Hernangomez, Marc Gasol
