The big day is here, we have the two playoff games today for a chance to go to the National Championship along with two other fairly good Bowl Games. The games will run from two at Noon, one at 4PM and one at 8PM tonight.
- Memphis vs Penn State - Noon, being played in Dallas
- Notre Dame vs Iowa State - Noon, being played in Orlando
- Oklahoma vs LSU - 4 PM, being played in Atlanta
- Clemson vs Ohio State - 8 PM, being played in Phoenix
TOP GAME STACKS
LSU vs Oklahoma
This is without question the game of the day and many feel it will be the game of the Bowl Season for fantasy/scoring purposes. It's likely one of those games that shoots out early and then slows down as the game moves along or even turns into a blowout if one teams defense steps up (likely LSU who is the better team). I wouldn't dare recommend fading this game entirely, but a strong case can be made for going heavier on the Clemson vs Ohio State game which features two equally strong offenses, lower ownership and the type of sneaky shootout match-up that we saw in the NFL this year when San Francisco and New Orleans met up. So I will get to that game in a minute, but this is the game you'll have to sweat out first
Clemson vs Ohio State
I think Clemson has turned it on right now and the Ohio State defense isn't necessarily as good as their stats show. This is a huge stadium shift in my mind going into a dome environment on a good surface for both offenses to shine. Can Ohio State actually slow down Higgins, Ross and Etienne? We're gonna find out. Can Clemson repeat and slow down the J.K. Dobbins train? I doubt they stop him entirely but I do like the Tigers to win and advance to the Championship.
FULL CHEAT SHEET
Joe Burrow (LSU) Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) Sean Clifford (PSU)
J.K. Dobbins (Ohio State) Travis Etienne (Clemson) Breece Hall (Iowa State)
J'Marr Chase (LSU) CeeDee Lamb (Oklahoma) Justin Jefferson (LSU) Chase Claypool (Notre Dame) Justyn Ross (Clemson)
Journey Brown (PSU) Tony Jones Jr (Notre Dame) Kennedy Brooks (Oklahoma)
KJ Hamler (PSU) Antonio Gibson (Memphis) Amari Rodgers (Clemson)
Top Overall Play
Journey Brown (PSU)
They're all equal up top.
This slate is loaded with lots of big name players and a strong case could even be made to consider the Penn State vs Memphis game for nice value and to stack those spots as well, but expecting both Semi-Final Championship games to go low scoring with those teams and in controlled environments is just asking for way too much. There's no value at QB even if you want to be contrarian as the prices on guys like Sean Clifford, Brock Purdy and Ian Book are high enough up that you can justify going up to Burrow, Lawrence, Fields or Hurts.
My primary QB targets: Lawrence or Burrow
Running Back on the other hand seems very clear cut for where to go. Journey Brown should be the lead back for Penn State, and at $4900 he is almost a must own value play against a Memphis Defense which allowed 171 rushing yards per game on the season. Clifford, Brown and Noah Cain should be the main rushing threats for Penn State, but Brown is the best option to roster in DFS today, plug him in. The other top RB's for me on this slate are clearly Dobbins, Etienne and Kennedy Brooks. Brooks should have a decent game for Oklahoma as they feature a lot of counter style rushes and that has given LSU fits on the season and with Trey Sermon out he shouldn't get goal line vultures as much and has good PPR upside too. Then it's down to Dobbins and Etienne for which of the future NFL RB's you wanna roll with and to me Dobbins is the more sure thing to carry his team versus Etienne having to compete with Lawrence showing off in the passing game.
My primary RB targets: Brown, Brooks, Dobbins
Wide Receiver is where the slate gets won or lost. Do you go all in a shootout in one game or spread it around? Going all in on a shootout doesn't require any analysis other than picking your game and it's a good slate in my mind to wait and take the late game to get Clemson/Ohio State game stack and know what you need to catch-up on the field using late swap to your advantage. But if we are spreading it around then the top spots should include looking at Chase Claypool for Notre Dame in a good spot vs Iowa State, KJ Hamler for Penn State and of course CeeDee Lamb for Oklahoma along with one of the LSU big three receivers. And oh yeah, play Clemson WR on turf, always...
My primary WR targets: Claypool, Jefferson, Rodgers --- Took value into play here, obviously mix these guys with some of the higher $ studs.
Let's roll with the defending champs passing attack against Ohio State in a game that will outscore the LSU-Oklahoma game in my mind.
Clemson: Trevor Lawrence, Tee Higgins, Amari Rodgers with J.K. Dobbins on the other side.
BOLD CALL: Two TD game for Amari Rodgers
