KBO Dongers Club - Fri 6/12

srenner

The weekend will kick off with some potential weather issues. This appears to be one of those situations where most games are impacted by some wide spread potential rain. The KBO historically leaves Monday's open for not only off days but also make-up games so there's a good chance that with enough rain these games get PPD.

I'm not gonna bullshit anyone and claim to have some pretty good feeling for historically which games will play versus others and it's something that just has to be monitored closer to the actual lock time, which is 5:30 AM. As of now though, this is what it looks like is the worst ...

  • KT Wiz at Samsung Lions ... Heavy rain.
  • Doosan Bears at Hanwha Eagles ... Moderate rain.
  • Kiwoom Heroes at NC Dinos ... Slight rain.

PITCHING

Chang Mo Koo (NC Dinos - $9,600)

Nothing bad so far about him as he's only gone 5-0 with a near 30% strikeout rate and an astounding 0.66 ERA. Kiwoom is a very tough spot, but I feel this is an area we must roll with because he's about $1200 too cheap still.

Drew Gagnon (Kia Tigers - $7,400)

Not only is he my highest ranked pitcher today but he'll also be avoiding any rain issues it seems, so we're probably in a spot where Gagnon is not going to matter due to 70%+ ownership if other spots get rained out. And sometimes we just take that and move on because he's in a great strikeout situation, should win and is in a park that is pitcher friendly.

Tyler Wilson (LG Twins - $8,400)

Both Wilson and Straily will be popular SP2 choiecs today paired with Koo or Gagnon because of rain in other spots and they're two arms that people will trust. Wilson and the Twins are at home and he's got the better team behind him even though Lotte has been playing well of late. I think Wilson has an easier path.

Odrisamer Despaigne (KT Wiz - $8,300)

Rain issues are the biggest concern for Despaigne against the lowly Lions. Samsung gives a nice strike-out boost for Despaigne as well.

STACKS

The Bears, Dinos and Wiz are all popular today based on the Veags lines only.

NC Dinos ... They should be the play today. They face a lefty who has not had any luck against RH hitting and so I'm looking at the righties + Sung Bum Na

  • Eui Ji Yang (C)
  • Jin Sung Kang (OF/1B)
  • Suk Min Park (3B)

Hanwha Eagles ... Say Whaaaaaaa? Can they finally get something going? Probably not based on what they've shown thus far but the combination of facing a reliever starting and then the Bears really bad bullpen makes me like taking a gamble on the Eagles. We have a slate today with some rain and some obvious chalk (like the Dinos) so there's a lot of reason to pivot over to a nice contrarian 3 man stack as your second build today.

  • Jared Hoying (OF)
  • Si Hwan Noh (2B/3B)
  • Yong Kyu Lee (OF)
