NHL DFS: Slap Shot - Dec 21
Saturday, December 21st - Ten Game Main Slate
Teams who are back to back tonight include: Toronto, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, Washington, Florida
There's a lot to like about tonight's slate and a lot of my favorite plays are full line stacks, so you're gonna see me take the approach of giving you the line stack recommendations here centered around a particular player in each spot.
KEY LINES & SKATERS
Sean Couturier - C - Flyers
Travis Konecny, Claude Girioux, Ivan Provorov
The Flyers have played well of late and take their game on the road to face the Senators (on a Saturday, in Canada!). Usually I feel these guys play Saturday afternoon games, but hey, we'll take the 7 PM game tonight and jump on the Flyers top line. The Senators are one of the worst teams in the league at limiting opposing teams center men and Coots along with TK and Claude Giroux make for a great full line stack tonight. They should produce 2+ goals.
This game overall to me has very good sneaky upside though as the Flyers are usually better defensively at home and the Senators have some nice value plays in guys like the Pageau-Tkachuk combination or Anisimov-Ennis if you are looking for deep value to pair with some of the high name teams like Colorado, Tampa, Washington, Boston or Toronto tonight.
Sebastian Aho - C - Hurricanes
Teuvo Teravainen, Nino Niederreiter, Dougie Hamilton
Some teams just have other teams numbers, like the Red Wings versus the Predators you play the Red Wings. Well, the Hurricanes have won 9 of 11 against the Panthers and the two losses were in OT and a 3-2 regulation loss. Florida comes in off a back to back from last night where they gave up two goals to Tyler Seguin and on the road tonight they should struggle again versus the Hurricanes who, despite playing their first home game after a west coast trip (something I dont like) should produce very well tonight led by the Aho-Teravainen-Niederreiter with you know who on defense adding a few goals (Mr. Dougie Hamilton baby)...
The Columbus Blue Jackets
Boone Jenner, Gustav Nyquist, Seth Jones
Columbus is going through some injury woes and will be without Cam Atkinson now (which sucks, he was a lock), but they're still a team I think can go off tonight against the bad Devils defense on a B2B. Guessing where the goals will come from with Torts likely switching lines every 5 minutes in this game is gonna be a challenge but we have to like Seth Jones one way or another as a lock to contribute offensively for the Blue Jackets tonight. The logical play would be to go with Jenner, Nyquist and Bjorkstrand as they can generate plenty of shots and hopefully some good scoring chances as well.
Mikko Koskinen (EDM)
Jakob Markstrom (VAN)
Jordan Binnington (STL)
SLAP SHOTS ...
LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT: Couturier - Giroux - Konecny (Flyers)
TOP STUD WINGER: Nikita Kucherov (Lightning) ... Left last game vs Caps due to a blistering shot on his ankle and he will be a thorn in Holtby's side again tonight.
TOP VALUE WINGER: Tyler Ennis (Senators)
TOP DEFENSEMAN: Seth Jones (Blue Jackets), Dougie Hamilton (Hurricanes)
TOP BET: Devils / Blue Jackets O5.5
