NHL DFS: Slap Shot - Jan 16th

Aleksander Barkov - C - Florida

The cold streak is over and with a goal last Sunday and a few days off now Barkov should have no problem against a Kings team that hasn't had as much rest lately and has been really bad versus opposing centers. Barkov and Trocheck together form a nice full stack if you go all in on Florida, but make sure you get Barkov.

  • Next best two: MacKinnon, Couturier

Brady Tkachuk - W - Ottawa

The Knights fired their coach on Wednesday because they're really not where they should be overall with the talent they have. That's nice of them to give the head coach the axe and all but it won't change their recent poor play that quickly. They've given up the second most goals in the past two weeks among teams on the slate (ironically the Sens are the other spot) and refuse to defending opposing LW's. Lock in the Tkachuker tonight.

  • Next best two: Arvidsson, Vrana -- Went mid range here.

Victor Hedman - D - Lightning

My cover boy tonight is worth spending up for against the Wild who continue to be the worst team in the league by my standards against opposing D-men. Tampa has played really well over the past month as a whole and I like them to destroy the Wild tonight.

  • Next best two: Doughty, Weber

  • Kopitar & Toffoli (LAK) ... As always consider a D-Man vs Florida as well (Doughty)
  • Bonino & Arvidsson (NSH)
  • Hischier & Wood (NJD)
  • Backstrom & Ovechkin (WSH)
  • Kuznetsov & Vrana (WSH)

Avalanche ... MacKinnon, Landeskog, Rantanen

My thoughts on this game ...

Image result for i like it alot animated gif

And yes this is an expensive stack but we do have some value options tonight and when you stack a full line you're playing for the 3 goal upside anyways, so it would be worth it if they hit and the Sharks defense looked pathetic vs Arizona as expected and should get run out of the building tonight.

Panthers ... Barkov, Huberdeau, Dadanov

Barkov continues a streak that he started on Sunday tonight. This line can win some heavy $ tonight.

Lightning ... Cirelli, Johnson, Stamkos

Both top Tampa lines tonight are good spots vs the Wild, but for high $ I prefer spending on Colorado or Florida top dogs, so consider the second line where Stamkos skates again.

Flyers PP1 ... Couturier, JVR, Konecny, Provorov

I want Coots and JVR exposure. That comes on the PP1.

Capitals ... Kuznetsov, Vrana, Oshie

Last Saturday these same two teams met in Washington and the Devils destroyed the Caps -- specifically Nico working over Kuznetsov. Caps will be smarter and lock down Nico with Backstrom tonight which brings me back to this line again today. Backstrom-Ovechkin combination is a chalky spot to start as well and one I don't mind either. Backstrom will score, but for a full correlation stack, go with the Caps 2nd line.

Juuse Saros (NSH) ... Preds at home will win tonight vs Ducks, should see high 20's SV volume, just not confident in any 35+ heavy usage tonight, but a solid pick.

Freddie Anderson (TOR) ... A rare discount it seems on the Leafs #1 goalie. Should be the key to them winning tonight.

Tuukka Rask (BOS) ... Get right game for Boston

LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT: MacKinnon - Landeskog - Rantanen (COL)

ONE OFF WINGER: Brady Tkachuk (OTT)

TOP DEFENSEMAN: Victor Hedman (TB)

FAVORITE BET: Sharks / Avalanche O6.5
