NHL DFS: The Slap Shot - Tue 12/10
Tuesday, December 10th ... What a loaded twelve (12) game slate we have on this fine Tuesday evening around the NHL. There were eight teams in action last night and only two (Tampa Bay and Calgary) are on B2B tonight and both are on the road with relatively short trips.
NOTE: The Dallas Stars dismissed their Head Coach today essentially for conduct detrimental to the organization. No further details on it, but it's a shocker for a team who has been playing well and certainly puts a little weirdness onto a game where they would have been heavy favorites vs the Devils. I suspect no impact with the coaching change, but it screams stay away for me.
Aleksander Barkov (Panthers)
Barkov is on a roll and thus we see his price up pushing near 8k as it's at $7,700 on DraftKings tonight. For good reason though, the Panthers top line center has points in five straight and paired with both Jonathan Huberdeau and Evgenii Dadanov makes the FLA1 trio a nice starting point tonight to win a slate. The Bolts and Panthers know each other well and over the past two years have had plenty of 5-4 type games in them -- with the Lightning on a B2B tonight and going into Florida's home I expect we see another one of those back and forth shootouts.
Others to consider:
- Connor McDavid (EDM) ... He doesn't stink at the hockey
- Steven Stamkos (TB)
- Sebastian Aho (CAR)
- Mark Scheifele (WPG)
- Dylan Larkin (DET)
- Matt Duchene (NAS)
Reilly Smith (Golden Knights)
To me the Knights really have one main line and whenever we have one of those scenarios you gotta like that line to do heavy damage against a below average opponent, like Chicago. Karlsson-Marchessault will be the popular players for the Knights, but RW have done decent as well vs Chicago as all forwards typically do. With the Knights at home this top line will contribute and I love Reilly Smith at $5,400 to light the lamp after being denied on 5 SOG on Sunday.
Others to look at:
- Nikita Kucherov (TB)
- Tyler Seguin (DAL)
- Jonathan Marchessault (VGK)
- Jonathan Huberdeau (FLA)
- Andrei Svechnikov (CAR)
- Kyle Connor (WPG)
- Joe Pavelski (DAL)
- Dominik Kahun (PIT)
- CLayton Keller (ARI)
- Tanner Pearson (VAN)
- Nino Niederreiter (CAR)
Cam Fowler (Ducks)
And here you thought I was going to go with my auto D versus Florida, didn't you? Well, I like the Bolts defense tonight vs the Panthers in a game stack spot but a one off that I wanted to call out is Cam Fowler for the Ducks facing the Minnesota Wild -- who have given up a whopping 23 goals themselves to opposing teams defenseman this year. Cam has the highest upside to score from the Ducks d-men and at his very affordable $4,800 price tag he is a nice anchor in all formats for your lineups.
Others to look at:
- Viktor Hedman (TB)
- Dougie Hamilton (CAR)
- Roman Josi (NSH)
- Jacob Trouba (NYR)
- Justin Schultz (PIT)
- Ryan Suter (MIN) ... Which means Dumba probably finally scores.
Florida / Tampa
I expect a high scoring game tonight between these Florida rivals. The Panthers are playing well and Tampa is coming off a dud last night vs the Islanders. They'll bounce back tonight but the FLA1 play is the best combo stack.
Barkov - Huberdeau - Dadanov (FLA)
Stamkos - Hedman (TB)
San Jose / Nashville
When these teams meet I get excited. It's like the Cardinals and Pirates in baseball -- take the overs and the way the Predators are playing this year they have paid off as a team to game stack often. Like the Sharks 2nd line a ton tonight.
Johansen - Forsberg - Josi (NSH)
Hertl - Labanc - Meier (SJ)
Hurricanes / Oilers
This game is just lurking in the wings on the west coast as a sneaky high scoring game with two good offenses facing off and the Hurricanes are giving up a decent % of goals to opposing centers. So, uh, yeah, that McDavid guy getting the 3 point bonus tonight seems about as predictable as the Sun coming up tomorrow.
McDavid - Draisaitl - Klefbom (EDM)
John Gibson (Ducks)
Ben Bishop (Stars)
Jordan Binnington (Blues) ... Contrarian goalie of hte night
SLAP ... SHOTS!
LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT: Barkov - Huberdeau - Dadanov (Panthers) and Karlsson - Marchessault - Smith (Golden Knights)
ONE OFF STUD WINGER: Nikita Kucherov (Lightning)
ONE OFF VALUE WINGER: Nino Niederreiter (Hurricanes)
TOP DEFENSEMAN: Cam Fowler (Ducks)
