Despite being in a cold spell over the past couple of days, we're able to bounce back tonight in my mind with a quality slate and the trade deadline behind us. Maybe it's just me, but I feel the scoring in the NHL has really taken a dip the last few days and this has happened before around the trade deadline where it just seems every team has uncertainty abound with all the player movement. Not an excuse, just an observation.

Tonight features a heavy 11 game slate and here are the note worthy rest/travel issues:

  • Buffalo B2B road game in Philly
  • Isles first home game back on east coast after a west coast trip
  • Bruins first home game back on east coast after a west coast trip
  • Kings B2B road game (and third game in four nights) in Carolina ... including OT game last night
  • Montreal B2B road game in Detroit
  • Nashville B2B game in St. Louis
  • Florida B2B road game in Arizona

TARGET STACKS

Carolina Hurricanes ... Sebastian Aho, Justin Williams and Nino Niederreiter

Look Eleanor. We are going to do this okay? The Hurricanes who always dominate in SOG will welcome in the Kings on the third game in four nights and off a B2B overtime game yesterday in Tampa. The only thing that can prevent the Hurricanes from scoring 5 goals tonight is a Jonathan Quick Vezina performance.

Winnipeg Jets ... Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Patrik Laine

I have not spoken with Rob Geriak at the time of me writing this, but something tells me he has a little cream in his pants over Laine being back on the top line with Scheifele and Wheeler. All systems go ladies and gentlemen, the Jets most potent line from an offense perspective is back together and they're gonna welcome in Minnesota, who has righted the ship a little bit after a horrific stretch but still remain a team that we can target tonight in tournaments. This line will cost ya 19.7k on DraftKings today, but get all three guys when going here.

Detroit Red Wings ... Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha, Mike Green

Antii Niemi ladies and gentlemen. He is an easy target to distract and Dylan Larkin should continue his recent hot play. The only bummer here is that Tyler Bertuzzi is down on the second line so he'll have to be creative with his ways to distract Niemi in goal allowing the Wings to score past the swiss cheese.

SNEAKY STACKS OF THE NIGHT

San Jose Sharks ... Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski, Timo Meier

Usually when teams in different conferences meet shortly after a previously high scoring game I'll shy away but I really like this game tonight and I loooove the Sharks side. Boston's first game back home after their long road trip and the price on this top line is perfect for the production that they are capable of.

Vegas Golden Knights ... William Karlsson, Mark Stone, Jonathan Marchessault

When teams make big moves at the deadline it usually goes in one of two directions. Either they're miserable for a few games or they come out on fire. I'll take a gamble with the Knights (wow, great pun there?) and bank on Stone being the juice that this line needs to really get going again.

Arizona Coyotes ... Nick Cousins, Clayton Keller, Alex Galchenyuk, Oliver Ekman-Larsson

Open the roof! The Coyotes welcome in Florida on a back to back. OEL will be a mainstay in my main lineup today on defense but the Coyotes should have Keller and Galchey on the same line and that's where they'll get most of their offensive production from tonight.

VALUE STACK

Philadelphia Flyers ... Nolan Patrick, Travis Konecny, Claude Girioux

Facing the Sabres who are struggling to defend anyone right now at home after Buffalo played in Toronto last night is a fantastic spot for Philadelphia exposure. I think Coots-Voracek on the second line will garner some ownership today but the Nolan Patrick-Travis Konecny value skating on the top line is where I really wanna shop today. Patrick's price is too low for someone who will get the ice time he gets today and skating with Claude and Konecny will benefit him greatly in my mind. Flyers are coming off the stadium series win, which I honestly don't love but with two days rest they should show up enough tonight. This value core allows you to pay up almost anywhere else.

CHALK FADE IN TOURNEYS

Washington Capitals ... Kuznetsov, Ovechkin, Wilson

The Caps top line is going to be very popular today at home against the Senators. I like the second line (Oshie & Vrana specifically as one offs) and the third line to produce for the Caps today and expect them to be a little sluggish here.

GOALIE TARGETS

Connor Helleybucyk - $8200 - Winnipeg ... I'll take him over Holtby who is likely the chalk high priced G today.

Petr Mrazek - $8100 - Carolina ... This is a steep price to pay for Mrazek, but I project him to win and give up 2 or fewer goals tonight. That's worth it.

Contrarian Options

Juuse Saros - $7400 - Nashville ... Trusting anything related to the Predators right now seems crazy I know, and going into St. Louis seems even more daunting. But the Preds couldn't have hit more posts last night and Saros has always been dominant for them on back to backs. Should be a low scoring game and Saros will see a TON of shots here.

Martin Jones - $7300 - San Jose ... Simply put I like the Sharks to win this game so a $7300 price tag for the win on the road is good correlation with the Sharks top line.

THE Slap ... SHOTS

LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT: Sebastian Aho - Justin Williams - Nino Niederreiter (Hurricanes)
