NHL DFS: Slap Shot - Jan 29th
Scheduling note on tonight's slate -- it begins ta 7:30 PM EST and for a Wednesday is a little larger than normal with 6 games on the slate. With most teams still on BYE, we have nine teams who have played already this week (Mon or Tues) who are back in action tonight while the Kings, Oilers and Coyotes make their first appearance since the all-star break.
Tyler Seguin - C - Stars
The Stars have come out after the break drawing Tampa and now Toronto at home and things should be much better offensively tonight for Dallas than on Monday when they only got two Jamie Benn goals. Seguin hasn't scored since late December but we know he has high shot volume upside for a center (had 10 in the last game he scored for example) and draws a Toronto defense who definitely brings a fast pace style to boost upside. Love Seguin's price and expect Dallas to win this game tonight.
Also Consider ...
- Brayden Point (TB)
- Tomas Hertl (SJ)
- Evgeny Kuznetsov (WAS) ... He has a hot streak coming.
Filip Forsberg - W - Predators
It's never good when one of the better players on a team isn't getting the maximum ice time but for whatever reason Forsberg in four of their last five games has gotten 15 to 16 minutes compared to the 19-20 he should be getting. Those extra few minutes would obviously be nice tonight against the team who drafted and traded Forsberg (Washington) as Filip has 6 goals in 8 games against the Caps over the past four seasons. He's expected to be on the second line with Matt Duchene tonight which is a nice correlation play as well.
Also Consider ...
- Alexander Radulov (DAL)
- Evander Kane (SJ)
- TImo Meier (SJ)
- Jakub Vrana (WAS)
- Brock Boeser (VAN)
Victor Hedman - D - Lightning
You could easily convince me into any other defenseman who is in the same range as Hedman tonight. Carlson, Josi, Giordano, Burns, Klefbom, etc. It's a good slate for D-Men but to be perfectly honest NONE of them leap out at me as must plays. So why Hedman? He's on the ice just as much as anyone, the Kings are one of the three teams coming off the extended break and the Lightning struggled early against the Kings in their prior meeting this year before winning in OT and I see them thumping L.A. early tonight and love the Point-Kuch combination as a late night hammer that nobody will have. So pair them up with Hedman to go full Bolts.
Also Consider ...
- John Carlson (WAS)
- Oscar Klefbom (EDM)
- John Klingberg (DAL) ... At only $4,300 he likely could wind up being a fairly chalky play
- Mark Giordano (CGY)
San Jose Sharks ... Hertl, Kane, Meier
Right back to the well on the line that didn't produce on Monday but has an equally (if not better) strong match-up tonight at home vs Vancouver.
Tampa Bay Lightning ... Point, Kucherov, Hedman
I mentioned it above but this stack will get ignored tonight and the Bolts vs the Kings is a big miss-match in favor of the visiting Lightning. They're expensive and on a slate with lots of goals it will take them producing a hatty from this combination but it's a spot I trust.
Dallas Stars ... Seguin, Benn, Radulov
The value for these three together in a fast paced game is too good to not like it.
The Coyotes vs Ducks game is where I am going to put my foot into the goalie waters tonight and hope it's not quicksand. Yeah, it's the lowest total on the board but it's the one game I don't think has a ton of offense on a slate where the goal alerts should be fast and furious. Both Antti Raanta and John Gibson have strong upside potential for the same $7,600 price tag and Gibson being at home and the Ducks having played a game already after the break would be the side to lean on in my mind.
LONGSHOT GOALIE: Ben Bishop (Dallas)
LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT: Hertl - Kane - Meier (Sharks)
ONE OFF WINGER: Filip Forsberg (Predators)
ONE OFF VALUE WINGER: Loui Eriksson (Canucks)
TOP DEFENSEMAN: Victor Hedman (Lightning)
FAVORITE BET: I like the OVER in all games tonight, except for the Coyotes-Ducks
