NHL: The Slap Shot - Sat Jan 18th
Eight game main slate tonight and the last 'bigger' slate before the all-star break. Tuesday is likely the last full slate you'll get for a good week or so -- plan accordingly.
Jack Eichel - C - Sabres
Normally I'm not a pay up for Eichel guy on big slates and a lot of that has to do with my feelings on his linemates just not carrying enough to help him go above his usually good floor. But going into Nashville against a soft defense like the Preds have should be enough to off-set the lack of skill with Jack. My preferred build is to pair him with Ristolainen tonight.
- Austin Matthews (TOR)
- Jeff Carter (LAK)
- Sean Couturier (PHI)
Cam Atkinson - W - Blue Jackets
The DK algo hasn't caught up to the fact that Cam Atkinson missed a large amount of time due to injury and that's why his overall stats are down. In his first game back the other night he netted a goal and an assist in just 15 minutes of ice time. Should slowly see more time as he gets his legs under him (always a weird saying, aren't all humans legs under them?) and drawing the Devils at home is never a bad spot. Really a big spot for the Blue Jackets to potentially have a 5+ goal game and Cam would surely factor in that.
- Viktor Arvidsson (NSH)
- Patrick Kane (CHI)
- Mitch Marner (TOR)
- Brock Boesser (VAN)
- Jonathan Huberdeau (FLA)
John Klingberg - D - Stars
One could argue that fellow defenseman Miro Heiskanen is just as good of a play tonight but Klingberg being only $4,400 against one of the worst teams in the league vs defenseman is where I would go tonight. Update: Heiskanen has been ruled out for a while and Klingberg will elevate back to the top PP unit. Lock him in.
- Seth Jones (CLB)
- Alex Edler (VAN)
- Alec Martinez (LAK)
TORONTO ... Matthews, Marner, Hyman
BUFFALO ... Eichel, Reinhart, Ristolainen
COLUMBUS ... Dubois, Atkinson, Jones
DALLAS ... Seguin, Radulov, Benn, Heiskanen
Elvis Merzlikins - Elvis has been fantastic since stepping in between the pipes for the Blue Jackets. They should beat the Devils tonight.
Sergei Bobrovsky - Bob is back in goal tonight vs a DET team on B2B.
Carey Price - Vegas shoots the puck a ton and just came off a 43 shot game against Ottawa under their new (interim) head coach. The risk here though is obviously Vegas is the better team and they have owned the Habs in prior meetings but without William Karlsson it's a little reduced risk.
LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT: Eichel - Reinhart - Ristolainen (Sabres PP1)
ONE OFF WINGER: Cam Atkinson (Blue Jackets)
ONE OFF VALUE WINGER: Dustin Brown (Kings)
TOP D-MAN: John Klingberg (Stars)
FAVORITE BET: Sabres/Predators O6
