Quick Hockey How-To...
The quickest and safest method for building a hockey tournament (and even cash honestly) lineup is to stack two Center-Wing-Wing lines together (Using Flex on DK) and two one off Defenseman. For example, take the first line for the Jets and the second line for the Predators, pair them up, lock in goalie and pick one off defenseman. You'll want to try and get full strength lines that also have power play exposure for that upside, but this is the best way to start. If you have questions please hit me up on twitter (@steve_renner). We will have more hockey how-to's as the season moves on.
I am working on a script to pull Goalie Confirmation updates onto a FullTime DFS provided page for you guys, but for now please confirm your goalies before lock. Left Wing Lock is a good source for lineup confirmations.
Jonathan Quick -- Quick draws the Calgary Flames at home tonight after getting off to a solid start to the season. LA is looking really good and Quick provides the best value for his price on DK but will cost you a little more on FanDuel tonight.
Braden Holtby -- I rarely pay up for goalie and this game has a 6 over/under which will keep people off Holtbeast tonight. That said, I have a feeling this is a low scoring game and the Caps pull out an overtime 2-1 win.
Longshot GPP - Mike Smith -- Smith's chances of getting the win are slim but he should see a ton of shots and is always capable of standing on his head. He's the longshot GPP goalie tonight to steal a win against Quick and the Kings
Suucka Flask -- That's his nickname folks. It's not Tuuka Rask. It's Suuucka Flask. We don't play him. Hardly. Ever.. And not tonight when he is chalk in cash. Colorado is skating with a ton of blind confidence and I think we get a high scoring game tonight.
Maple Leafs -- The Leafs have looked nothing short of unstopable early on offense. Tonight they welcome a bad Devils team with a very young second line. Matthews-Nylander-Hyman line should score multiple times. The Devils last year had an amazing home/road penalty kill split where they were amazing on the road and very good at home. There's no reason to explain that and I think it flips this year.
Bruins -- Bruins will be popular tonight with the Leafs. They're skating min priced Riley Nash at center on the top line with Marchand and Pastrnak. If you want to get off that chalk but stay on Boston look at the Krejci-Bjork-DeBrusk line.
Avalanche -- Avs making their home debut against Suucka and a Boston team still without Bergeron. I love the MacKinnon-Rantanen combination tonight and will pair them with Tyson Barrie for PP upside.
FAVORITE ONE OFFS
- Auston Matthews (TOR) - Fine playing him by himself tonight.
- Jeff Carter (LAK)
- Nathan MacKinnon (COL)
- Rickard Rakell (ANA)
- Brad Marchand (BOS)
- Alex Ovechkin (WAS)
- William Nylander (TOR)
- Taylor/HallKyle Palmieri (NJD) - Devils are also getting a nice pace boost tonight against the Leafs. The Palmieri-Hall combo is a good play to score.
- Patrick Hornqvist (PIT)
- Brett Connolly (WAS) - Sleeper value play.
DEFENSE - Fine to do one off's here with two stacks
- Cam Fowler (ANA) - Top defenseman play tonight. Lock him in. He scores tonight.
- Tyson Barrie (COL)
- Jake Gardiner (TOR)
- Morgan Rielly (TOR)
