When it comes to dominant wide receivers in fantasy football the last few seasons, two playmakers immediately jump off the stat sheet. Michael Thomas and DeAndre Hopkins have finished at the top or in the Top 5 at the position since 2017.

The Saints All-Pro had 149 catches in 2019 which broke an NFL record and his 1,725 yards was the most in the league by over 300 yards. He’s scored nine touchdowns in three of the last four seasons. As for Hopkins, he’s been a statistical powerhouse for the last six seasons. Since 2015, Hopkins has the second most receptions (504), touchdowns (46) and yards(6,590). He was traded from the Texans to the Cardinals this offseason and instead of catching passes from DeShaun Watson, he’ll now be on the receiving end of Kyler Murray’s targets.

But which player should be the first wide receiver taken in fantasy football drafts for 2020? Sports Illustrated’s fantasy football analyst Corey Parson and Saints News Network’s Kyle Mosley break it all down.

Read the full transcript from their video below:

Kaitlin O'Toole: Sports Illustrated is taking you inside the world of fantasy sports. Joining me now from Saints News Network is Kyle Mosley, and SI's fantasy and gambling analyst Corey Parson. Kyle, how much of a chip does Michael Thomas have on his shoulder when it comes to being the best receiver in the NFL?

Kyle Mosley: Well, Michael still believes that people are not giving him the credit that is due to him. If you look at his performance as being the offensive player of the year in 2019, Michael Thomas did a tremendous job with over 1700 total yards as well as 149 receptions. Still, you have guys like DeVante Parker who have been challenging him and now DeAndre Hopkins has come for him. It's a pretty unique situation for Michael Thomas, being at the pinnacle of the position, and still not getting the respect that he believes he deserves.

Kaitlin O'Toole: Corey, Kyle brought up DeAndre Hopkins. I want to talk about him. He said he's the best receiver in the league. Do you agree with that?

Corey Parson: Pound for pound I think DeAndre Hopkins definitely has to be in the conversation. Listen, here's the deal when it comes to Michael Thomas, and I hate to say it like this, but it really is a lot of volume. Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent route runner, a very good wide receiver. So it's a ton of volume, the amount of targets that he gets, nobody else is getting. Now, you could say also he gets to catch passes from Drew Brees, but even when Teddy Bridgewater took over for Brees last year, it was still pump and feed the ball to Michael Thomas. Now, when it comes to pound for pound, a guy like the DeAndre Hopkins, Julio Jones, Odell Beckham, they may be more skillful than Michael Thomas. But Michael Thomas right now is getting the targets, he's putting up the numbers, and guess what? The numbers don't lie.
