Fantasy Football players in dynasty leagues are always on the lookout for the next primetime player, the next stud, the next superstar they can have on their roster for year’s to come. When it comes to tight ends, not every prospect will turn into the next Travis Kelce or George Kittle but the potential of a tremendous return on investment is intriguing nonetheless. That’s why dynasty players are starting to research this year’s rookie tight ends including Adam Trautman of the Saints, Cole Kmet from the Bears and Patriots’ Devin Asiasi.

Sports Illustrated’s fantasy analyst Frank Taddeo and Saints News Network’s Kyle Mosley offer their insight on those three rookie tight ends.

Read the transcript from their conversation.

Bill Enright: The Saints, Bears and Browns all drafted tight ends in April's NFL draft and fantasy football players in dynasty leagues are ready to pounce on the future playmakers. Let's bring on Saints News Network's Kyle Mosley and SI's fantasy analyst Frank Taddeo. Kyle I'm going to go to you first. Let's talk about Adam Trautman and where you see him fitting in, in 2020 and future seasons as well.

Kyle Mosley: Well, I think the kid has a bright future. And you're talking about a 6'5 target for Drew Brees. Maybe one or two years, right? He has great hands, excellent blocking ability, and he's very smart. He graduated with his electrical engineering degree. So when I was talking to his coach and asked him some questions about him, he really loved the guy. He has a great locker room presence as well. So I believe this will help the Saints, especially on third downs as well as the red zone, especially if you pair him with Jared Cooke and Josh Hill. I think this is what the Saints need, especially after last season. They were down in red zone as well as third down efficiency.

Bill Enright: Frank, I'll go over to you for a little dynasty analysis on Bears tight end Cole Kmet and Patriots tight end Devin Asiasi.

Frank Taddeo: Yeah, Bill, right now the jury is still out on Cole Kmet. He was drafted the highest among all the tight ends, but for me right now, we all know he's joining a very crowded tight end group over in Chicago. I mean, we already know that they signed Jimmy Graham in free agency and now him being there. We do know Jimmy Graham's injury history, so maybe in year one he has a possibility if Graham does actually go down due to injury. We've seen that before. So for me, Colt Kmet is somebody in dynasty leagues you're going to want to look at. But I think he has more value possibly in the later seasons. In terms of Devin Asiasi, what is there not to love? We know Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, they love to feature their tight ends and they really haven't had a star tight end since the days of Rob Gronkowski. We know Gronk is now down with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. So right now, this kid really has a chance to make a splash in year one. If he can just get his blocking scheme down right now and these teams can get back and start to train and work post the COVID-19 pandemic and he gets the opportunity to assimilate into that offense and learn the scheme. I think both players have a chance in year one, but I think that definitely years two and three, they are definitely players you're going to want at a weak position in dynasty football.
