SOUTHPORT, England (AP) Beatriz Recari birdied her last three holes for a 5-under 67 at Royal Birkdale to share the lead Friday in the Ricoh Women's British Open.

Former U.S. Women's Open champion So Yeon Ryu had a 70 and joined Recari in the lead at 3-under 141. Ryu is the only player to break par in both rounds on a difficult links course with thick rough and increasing wind.

Michelle Wie, coming off her first major victory at Pinehurst No. 2, played in the afternoon and was struggling to make the cut on the back nine.

This year's other major champion on the LPGA Tour, Lexi Thompson, was making a remarkable turnaround. She began her round with a 10 after two tee shots went out of bounds and was around the cut line.
