McIlroy leads PGA by a stroke; it seems like more

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Rory McIlroy has teed off in the third round of the PGA Championship with a one-stroke lead.

McIlroy is playing in the final group Saturday with Jason Day, topping the field at 9-under 133. Day and Jim Furyk are next at 134, with Rickie Fowler and Lee Westwood among those just two strokes off the pace at Valhalla.

McIlroy is a huge favorite to capture his fourth major championship, coming into Louisville off back-to-back victories at the British Open and the World Golf Championship at Firestone.

Softened by overnight rain, the course seems primed for plenty of low scores. Four players have already shot 5-under 66, including Sergio Garcia and Brandt Snedeker. Hunter Mahan and Danny Willett are also 5 under on the day nearing the end of their rounds.
