Dawson leads Austin by a stroke on Champions Tour

SAN ANTONIO (AP) Marco Dawson opened with four birdies in the first six holes on the way to a 5-under 67 Saturday for a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the Champions Tour's AT&T Championship, while Bernhard Langer moved closer to clinching the Charles Schwab Cup, even before next week's season-ending championship.

Dawson, who's only PGA Tour-affiliated victory came at the Web.com Tour's LaSalle Bank Open in 2002, moved to 12 under, a shot ahead of Woody Austin (65) and two in front of Wes Short Jr. (67).

Langer, a five-time winner this season, rebounded from an opening-round 71 with a 6-under par 66, and is five shots behind Dawson. He has a 771-point lead over Colin Montgomerie and can clinch the championship if he gets the lead to 833 points.

Michael Allen shot a 7-under 65 and is three strokes off the lead along with Scott Hoch (67) and Jay Haas (68).
