DORAL, Fla. (AP) J.B. Holmes had a tap-in eagle to go along with eight birdies for a 10-under 62 to build a four-shot lead after the opening round of the Cadillac Championship.

If only the game were that easy for Rory McIlroy. The world's No. 1 player played cautiously, shot 40 on his opening nine holes and had to rally for a 73. He still hasn't broken par in his three rounds in America this year.

Holmes is back in this World Golf Championship for the first time in five years. Trump National Doral was redone last year to bring in more water, and while it played a little softer, it was no bargain.

Ryan Moore hit into the water and made double bogey on the 18th hole and shot a 66.
