KOHLER, Wis. (AP) Rory McIlroy needed a break after missing the cut two straight weeks.

Now the world's top-ranked golfer is refreshed headed into next week's U.S. Open at Chambers Bay.

McIlroy made a stop in Kohler, Wisconsin, on Friday to promote the PGA Championship in August at Whistling Straits. It's the site of what McIlroy calls one of his breakthrough tournaments when he finished third in the PGA in 2010.

It's an experience that McIlroy said helped set him up for successes to come.

McIlroy didn't seem too worried about the slump before his week off. He said he was suffering from a little fatigue.
