Taylor, Loupe take early lead at Travelers Championship

CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) Americans Vaughn Taylor and Andrew Loupe shot 6-under 64s to take the early lead during the first round of the Travelers Championship in Connecticut.

The 40-year-old Taylor, who won for the first time since 2005 at Pebble Beach earlier this year, strung together five consecutive birdies to shoot a 30 on the back nine.

Loupe pulled into a tie after sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on 18.

The pair held a one-stroke lead after the morning rounds.

Twenty-one-year-old Korean Si Woo Kim had the shot of the day, acing the 215-yard fifth hole during his morning round.

Fans stood four and five deep to watch the trio of U.S. Olympians, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed and Matt Kuchar, tee off in the afternoon.
