ROME (AP) The site of the Italian Open golf tournament in October has been moved for the second time this year.
The Italian Golf Federation says the event will now be held at the Golf Club Milano in Monza, the course which hosted the event the last two years.
In January, the federation announced it was switching the tournament site from the Olgiata club in Rome to the Royal Park I Roveri club outside Turin, in the Piedmont region.
However, the Piedmont region - like organizers in Rome - failed to come up with 500,000 euros ($575,000) in funding.
The federation says the Lombardy region where Monza is located has promised the necessary economic support.
The tournament's purse has been increased to 7 million euros ($8 million) as part of the buildup to the 2022 Ryder Cup near Rome, at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Guidonia. The hosting contract with the European Tour requires the Italian Open to feature a 7 million euro purse for the next 10 years, making it part of the Rolex Series.
The tournament dates of Oct. 12-15 have not changed.
