Does John Deere Classic's Weak Field Provide a Rare Betting Opportunity?

Most of the big names are skipping the John Deere Classic, which makes this week ripe for a long-shot winner to emerge. Our hosts make their predictions.

The John Deere Classic has returned to its usual place on the calendar, one week before the British Open. The soft, par-71 course will surrender its share of birdies again this week, and there aren't many top-tier players in town to take advantage.

Daniel Berger is the clear class of the field, but is he worth the $11,000 price on Draft Kings? Rotowire's Scott Jenstad says "maybe," but Morning Read's Jeff Ritter is out, as he prefers Sungjae Im from the top tier. Jenstad likes Henrik Norlander, and his super-sleeper, Michael Gellerman, is fresh off a strong week in Detroit. This event has produced 23 first-time PGA Tour winners. Could Gellerman be next?

Ritter also really likes Sepp Straka and Beau Hossler, who is on a run of top-25 finishes.

But there can only be one. Here are the hosts' one-and-done picks this week:

Ritter: Beau Hossler

Jenstad: Russell Henley (but would have used Im if he had him available)

Erickson: Daniel Berger over Alex Noren by a hair.
