Video Ep. 9 | Have Clubs Will Travel: Bethpage Black

Have Clubs Will Travel host David Wood showcases Bethpage State Park's Black Course, located on Long Island and a longtime favorite of New York metro area golfers. The beastly Black began receiving national acclaim when it hosted the 2002 U.S. Open

In the early 1980s, a warning sign was placed near the Bethpage State Park Black Course's first tee. It reads: "The Black Course Is An Extremely Difficult Course Which We Recommend Only For Highly Skilled Golfers." Despite the warning, the public access course which opened in 1936 and has hosted the U.S. Open (2002 and 2009) and the PGA Championship (2019), has long been a favorite of muni golfers in the New York metro area.
