Ocean Course delivers a major experience

The Kiawah Island (S.C.) Resort course, which is hosting the 2021 PGA Championship, is a demanding oceanside design that, coupled with unpredictable winds, will test a golfer's skill and patience

Kiawah Island (S.C.) Resort's Ocean Course is hosting its second PGA Championship this week. The course also hosted the 1999 Ryder Cup, which was known as the "War by the Shore."

On a calm day, the Ocean Course, which features 10 oceanside holes, the highest number of any course in the United States, is a daunting test. The addition of multi-directional winds, though, adds another layer of difficulty to an already vexing Pete and Alice Dye links-style design.

When playing the Ocean Course, a golfer's focus should be on enjoying one of the game's unique experiences. Posting a good score would be a bonus.
