Until then, 247Sports has developed a system to rank the 2012 classes. The order relies on each program's number and quality of recruits, with the top 17 in each class receiving increased weight. The Top 50 will be closely monitored, so make sure to check back for regular updates.
Before the rankings, two quick notes:
• Michigan (No. 4) and Texas A&M (No. 6) are the two biggest surprises of this year's cycle. The Wolverines could inch closer to Florida State should they land four-star wideout Jordan Payton (Oaks Christian, Calif.), who could announce his commitment as early as Tuesday.
• Ohio State (No. 36), USC (No. 50) and Wisconsin (NR) should move up significantly in the rankings in weeks to come. All are currently hurt by low commitment totals.
