Boston College lands WR Phillips

Boston College is off to a 2-0 start on the field, but its biggest September victory may have come on the recruiting trail Monday Night.

Shakim Phillips, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver from DePaul High (Wayne, N.J.), committed to assistant coaches Ryan Day and Bill McGovern, has learned. The Eagles are getting an aggressive playmaker who ranks as the No. 37 player and the No. 5 receiver in the class of 2010.

UNC, Rutgers, Pitt and several SEC schools had offered Phillips, who took no official visits.
