Photos: Millennium upsets top-seeded Flowing Wells 46-28 to win 4th straight Arizona 5A girls basketball championship
PHOENIX - Behind a stingy defense that held top-seeded Flowing Wells scoreless in the third quarter, No. 3-seeded Millennium cruised to a 46-28 victory on Tuesday night in the AIA Class 5A girls basketball championship game at the Arizona Veteran's Memorial Coliseum.
The Tigers outscored the Caballeros 13-0 in the third quarter to take a comfortable 38-15 lead into the final period.
It marked the fourth consecutive 5A state championship for Millennium (21-9).
Eli Guiney scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Tigers while teammate Trayanna Crisp added 11 points.
Leamsi Acuna led Flowing Wells (29-2) with 11 points - including connecting on three 3-pointers - and Navine Mallon had 15 rebounds.
