Each week, SBLive gathers the best high school performances across the country with the help of fans, readers and staff.

We've separated boys and girls because of how many great performances there are each week. Now it's your turn to choose a standout among the pack, the best of the best.

Here are the nominees for SBLive's Boys Athlete of the Week for June 5-11. Voting closes on Sunday, June 18 at 11:59 (Pacific Time) and winners are announced on Mondays.

Boys national athlete of the week nominees

Hayden Bills, Rosemount (Minnesota)

Bills, an Arizona State signee, took home a pair of gold medals at the Class 3A state meet in the shot put (66-7.5) and discus (207-0). He broke the state discus mark by six feet and is ranked No. 3 in the country in the event this spring.

Jacob Cookinham, Bishop Stang (Massachusetts)

Cookinham won the shot put competition at the New England Interscholastic Outdoor Championships with a top throw of 66-0.25, the seventh-best mark nationally this season. Cookinham is a Kansas signee.

James Ellwanger, Magnolia West (Texas)

Ellwanger took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out 17 in 6 2/3 innings of work as Magnolia West defeated Frisco Reedy, 3-0, in a Class 5A state semifinal.

Julio Ermigiotti, Central Bucks West (Pennsylvania)

Ermigiotti needed just 80 pitches to throw a seven-inning perfect game against Wilson, striking out nine in a 3-0 victory. The win sent Central Bucks West to the state quarterfinals.

Jonny Farmelo, Westfield (Virginia)

Farmelo, a Virginia signee, launched a two-run homer to tie the game and won it with a solo shot in extra innings as Westfield defeated Lake Braddock, 4-3, in a state quarterfinal.

Jayden Khamphilanouvong, Liberty (Iowa)

Khamphilanouvong went 5 for 8 and belted a pair of home runs as Liberty swept a doubleheader with Cedar Rapids Jefferson by scores of 12-6 and 6-3.

Joshua Mooney, Stonington (Connecticut)

Mooney captured three gold medals at the Connecticut State Open, placing first in the 110 hurdles (13.58), the 300 hurdles (37.39) and the javelin (201-2). His 110 hurdles mark, the No. 10 time in the country this season, broke the state record.

Treston Nemeth, Harrison Central (Ohio)

Nemeth, a Dayton signee, threw a four-hitter and knocked in his team’s only runs on a triple as Harrison Central defeated Heath in a Division III state semifinal, 2-1.

Zyaire Nuriddin, Montverde Academy (Florida)

Nuriddin ran the 400 in 45.78 at the Star Athletics Sprint Series, the fourth-fastest time nationally this spring.

Xavier Phlipot, Russia (Ohio)

Phlipot pitched eight shutout innings and delivered a walk-off RBI single as Russia punched its ticket to the Division IV state championship game with a 1-0 victory over St. Henry.

Nathaniel Rayan, Scotch Plains-Fanwood (New Jersey)

Rayan placed first in the 110 hurdles at the New Jersey Group Championships with a wind-aided time of 13.45, the fifth-best all-conditions time nationally this season. Rayan is a Clemson signee.

Stephen Rickert, Champlain Valley Union (Vermont)

Rickert fired a one-hitter with five strikeouts as Champlain Valley Union captured its third Division I title in four seasons with a 6-0 win over Mount Anthony.

Adrian Rodriguez, Flower Mound (Texas)

Rodriguez, a junior Texas A&M commit, went 2 for 3 with a two-run homer as Flower Mound defeated Pearland, 6-4, in the Class 6A state championship game.

Zion Theophilus, Archbishop Moeller (Ohio)

Theophilus, a sophomore LSU commit, allowed just one run and struck out seven in a 4-1 win over Olentangy Orange that secured the Division I state championship.
