Congratulations to North Little RockD.J. Smith for being voted SBLive’s Arkansas High School Boys Basketball Player of the Week!

The 5-foot-8 senior guard led the Charging Wildcats to an 82-76 win over Mills by scoring 13 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter. North Little Rock, a state title contender in 6A, finished 6-0 in nonleague action.

Smith received54.55% of the vote, beating out Russellville’s Trey Allen who finished with 9.09%. Northside's Tamaury Releford tied for second with 9.09% and Bentonville West's Riley Buccino was third with 6.82%.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for Jan. 4-10:

Trey Allen, Russellville: The 6-foot-2 senior combo guard led the way for the Cyclones in Tuesday’s 56-54 overtime win against Catholic with 25 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Riley Buccino, Bentonville West: Buccino, a 6-foot-3 junior guard, nailed five three-pointers (four in the second quarter) and finished with a game-high 27 points to lead the Wolverines to a 70-60 win over Siloam Springs on Wednesday.

Camren Hunter, Bryant: The Central Arkansas commit had another big game Monday against Marion, pouring in 28 points with nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks to power the Hornets to a 65-48 victory.

Tamaury Releford, Northside: Releford, a 6-foot-8 senior, led the way with 17 points and seven rebounds in the Grizzlies’ 75-56 win over rival Southside on Tuesday.

Yazed Taforo, Southside: The 6-foot sophomore guard had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists Wednesday in the Mavericks’ 62-55 victory against Waldron.

Landon Ward, Siloam Springs: The senior point guard had a game-high 19 points Thursday in a 59-31 win over Gentry, helping the Panthers finish a stretch of three games in three days with a victory.

Kel’el Ware, North Little Rock: Ware, a 6-foot-10 junior center, had 29 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday in the Charging Wildcats’ 87-83 overtime win against Jonesboro. He was 12 for 16 from the field.

Bryson Warren, Little Rock Central: The sophomore guard went off for 29 points in the Tigers’ 71-66 overtime win against Hot Springs on Wednesday.
