Torrey Pines won their fifth straight game, beating Mission Hills 10-6 on Friday

The back half of the San Diego Section top 10 rankings saw a significant shake up this week, with several teams rising and falling.

El Camino, after winning at La Costa Canyon, reentered the rankings at No. 6. Torrey Pines continued their upward trend, beating Mission Hills to move up to No. 5.

Carlsbad and Lincoln, the top two teams in the section, moved one week close to undefeated regular seasons by picking up dominant wins last week.

1. Carlsbad (7-0)

Next game: Friday at Torrey Pines

Previous ranking: 1

Carlsbad sacked Poway five times on Friday night, beating the Titans 35-0. They'll travel to co-Avocado League leader Torrey Pines this week, looking for their 25th straight league victory.

2. Lincoln (8-0)

Next game: Saturday vs. St. Augustine

Previous ranking: 2

Lincoln led Cathedral 26-0 at halftime on their way to a 40-14 victory against the Dons. They'll finish up the regular season against St. Augustine and University City before getting their bye in week 11.

3. Granite Hills (7-0)

Next game: Friday at Steele Canyon

Previous ranking: 3

Granite Hills shutout West Hills 52-0 on Friday night, lowering their season average of points allowed to eight per game. The Eagles have kept pace with Helix with their matchup looming in two weeks.

4. Helix (7-0)

Next game: Thursday vs. Santana

Previous ranking: 4

Helix surpassed the 50-point mark for the second time this season, beating Grossmont 57-8 on Friday. They'll host Santana this week before making the trip east to Granite Hills in a game with league and playoff implications on the line.

5. Torrey Pines (5-2)

Next game: Friday vs. Carlsbad

Previous ranking: 10

Torrey Pines has been the biggest surprise in the section over the past month, winning five straight games to fly up the rankings. The Falcons have taken down El Camino and Mission Hills the past two weeks and will get their shot against top-ranked Carlsbad on Friday.

6. El Camino (5-2)

Next game: Friday at Poway

Previous ranking: NR

El Camino bounced back from a loss against Torrey Pines by sneaking out a 24-17 win at La Costa Canyon. They'll look to keep their league title hopes alive with a trip to face Poway on Friday.

7. La Costa Canyon (5-2)

Next game: Friday at Mission Hills

Previous ranking: 5

La Costa Canyon came up just short against El Camino on Friday, losing 24-17. They'll hit the road for two straight Avocado League games starting with Mission Hills this Friday.

8. Mission Hills (4-3)

Next game: Friday vs. La Costa Canyon

Previous ranking: 6

The Grizzlies were held to single digits in last week's loss to Torrey Pines for the first time since 2021. They'll look for their first Avocado League victory this season when they host La Costa Canyon this week.

9. Del Norte (6-1)

Next game: Thursday at Mt. Carmel

Previous ranking: 8

Del Norte handled Fallbrook 35-6 on Friday to keep pace with Ramona and San Marcos in the Palomar League. They'll travel to Mt. Carmel this week before finishing the regular season against the Bulldogs and Knights.

10. Cathedral Catholic (2-6)

Next game: Friday at Madison

Previous ranking: 10

Cathedral Catholic dropped Friday's game against unbeaten Lincoln, 40-14. The Dons will travel to Madison this week before their bye week that leads into the regular season finale against rival St. Augustine.
