Here are all the other coaches that were nominated for Oct. 17-Oct. 22:
Rod Harris, Martin County: Up against a undefeated rival, the Tigers made it happen under Harris. Martin County pulled off a 28-21 win over previously undefeated Vero Beach, making it the best win of the season for the Tigers.
Andy Schmitz, Mitchell: This hasn’t been quite the Mitchell Mustangs we’ve always been accustomed to. Schmitz has had to make a ton of adjustments due to injuries and they just keep finding ways. Schmitz led the Mustangs to a 15-10 win over the previously undefeated Springstead Eagles.
Matt Thompson, Jesuit: When the deck is stacked against you, you have to stand up and the Tigers did that against Tampa Bay Tech. Avoiding their fourth loss of the season, Thompson led his Tigers to a stunning 24-21 win over the Titans.
Jarrod Hickman, FSU High: The Seminoles have been playing some of their best football as of late and the latest win is one of the most impressive. Hickman guided FSU High to a 42-21 victory over Chiefland on the road.
Greg Odierno, Oviedo: Dominating was the key word as the Lions did that to clinch the Class 3A-Metro, District 2 championship. Odierno led Oviedo to a 43-13 victory over Lyman to clinch the district championship.
Bill Castle, Lakeland: We take a guy like the legendary Bill Castle for granted sometimes and Friday night showed he’s got this Dreadnaughts team playing exceptionally. Lakeland rolled past Clearwater Academy International 44-6.
Jamie Rodgers, Bradford: Seven shutout wins on the season. Count them up because Bradford has only yielded one touchdown through eight games. Rodgers led the Tornadoes to a 44-0 win over Dunnellon. Another shutout under his team’s belt.
