Here are all the other athletes that were nominated for Jan. 23-Jan. 28:

Yohandry Ortiz, Naples First Baptist, Boys Basketball: When the Lions needed a big bucket, they went to the senior in clutch time. Ortiz helped lift Naples First Baptist to a Class 3A, District 12 victory over Gateway Charter by scoring a team-high 26 points. His baskets down the stretch were the difference for First Baptist.

Jamie Phillips, Winter Haven, Boys Basketball: Facing off against a very talented IMG Academy Blue team, Phillips amongst a roster of stars stood out the most for the Blue Devils. In a 84-77 victory, Phillips led the way with a team-high 22 points in helping Winter Haven reach a record of 18-4.

Hannah Kohn, Hagerty, Girls Basketball: This isn’t your typical submission for an athlete of the week as it’s more towards a career accomplishment than a single game. Kohn set a new Florida high school girls basketball record for 3-pointers made in a career at 538. She needs 22 more to tie the national mark of 560.

Damerius Summers, Stoneman Douglas, Boys Basketball: There's so much talent down in South Florida when it comes down to basketball and Summers had himself a game to remember. The senior notched a double-double, scoring 22 points and pulling down 14 boards in a 59-50 win over North Broward Prep.

Calven Charles, Palmetto Ridge, Boys Basketball: Though it was Iago Stanback who hit the big-time 3-pointer to push Palmetto Ridge past East Lee County, it was Charles that was the difference maker through the course of the game. Charles scored 27 points, 20 in the second half to contribute to the victory.

Fernando Maynor Jr., Gibbs, Boys Basketball: Starting off 0-of-4 from the field doesn't usually equate to becoming clutch in crutch time. Well, unless you're Fernando Maynor Jr. that is. The guard hit two huge 3-pointers in the final minutes to help give Gibbs a thrilling 64-61 win over East Lake.

Dwayne Wimbley Jr., Westminster Academy, Boys Basketball: It's not how you start, but more on how you finish. For Westminster Academy's Dwayne Wimbley Jr., that rang true. The sophomore wing score 27 points, including 21 being in the second half, to lead the Lions past The Benjamin School 74-61.

Jada Eads, Lake Highland Prep, Girls Basketball: Eads was sensational in a 57-52 win for the Highlanders over last year’s Class 7A state semifinalist Colonial. She scored 22 points and collected eight rebounds in the win.

Ashley Knox, Tampa Catholic, Girls Basketball: The freshman just picked up an offer from Auburn, which looks to be the first of many. Knox backed it up with a strong performance in a 54-45 win over Tampa Prep, scoring 21 points and grabbing five boards.

CJ Kearns, Rockledge, Boys Basketball: Want to talk about having a block party? Kearns literally had himself one when Rockledge faced off against Palm Bay. In a 41-33 victory over the Pirates, Kearns set a school-record record for blocks, blocking 10 shots and collecting 11 rebounds. The previous record was held by Rockledge Hall of Famer Mark Christian.

Brandon DeMartino, Fort White, Boys Basketball: The junior shooting guard was nearly perfect from 3-point land in Fort White's 69-62 loss to Newberry. DeMartino nailed 7-of-9 from downtown, knocking down 12-of-14 free throws and scoring a game-high 39 points.

Ryan Jones, The Rock School, Boys Basketball: Jones went off in The Rock School's 87-75 victory over Central Pointe Christian. The 6-foot-9 hybrid forward scored a game-high 33 points, knocking down four 3-pointers and added 13 rebounds in the win.

Abby Knauff, Bolles, Girls Basketball: Knocking em down from beyond the arc isn’t always easy, but Knauff made it look that way in a 63-46 victory over Mandarin. Knauff scored 24 points, hitting six 3-pointers in the process.

Carson Fayard, Niceville, Girls Basketball: Fayard is another freshman that has made this top performers list and she did it when her team needed her the most. In a thrilling 39-38 win over Fort Walton Beach, she scored a team-high 15 points.

Chandy Thegu, Gateway, Boys Soccer: Needing a goal to break the scoreless tie, Thegu came through in the 65th minute for Gateway against Hardee in a district tournament match. Thegu’s go-ahead goal lifted the Eagles to a 1-0 win over the Wildcats.
