Here is the Michigan high school boys basketball Power 25.

Michigan high school boys basketball Power 25

No. 1 St. Mary's (1-0)

St. Mary’s dominated Carman-Ainsworth 67-25 in its first game of the season. The Eaglets are led by junior small forward Trey McKenney, the number one player in Michigan. After losing to Muskegon in the state semifinals, St. Mary’s could be poised to go all the way this season.

No. 2 Brother Rice (5-0)

Brother Rice has had an active opening to the season, and its stomped everyone in the way, with an eleven point win over Ferndale being its lowest margin of victory. The Warriors finished 22-2 last year, and it looked like they were the best team in Michigan, but St. Mary’s sent them home before the state tournament.

A lot of eyes will be on Brother Rice to see if they can do some damage in the postseason.

No. 3 North Farmington (2-0)

The Raiders beat their rival Farmington by a score of 70-25. North Farmington ended last season with a loss to St. Mary’s in the second round of the playoffs. The best player North Farmington had (Ryan Hurst) graduated, so it remains to be seen who will step up for the Raiders.

No. 4 Warren Lincoln (2-0)

The Abes are coming off of a 66-63 win over Grosse Pointe South on December 2. Warren Lincoln is set to host Port Huron Northern on December 15 as they try to stay undefeated in the early part of the season.

No. 5 Cass Tech (3-0)

No. 6 De La Salle (2-0)

De La Salle entered this year after losing to St. Mary’s in the third round of the state playoffs last season. The Pilots defeated Chippewa Valley 67-61 Friday night. We’ll find out what De La Salle is made of when it visits Brother Rice on December 21.

No. 7 University of Detroit Jesuit (4-0)

The Cubs lost to St. Mary’s in the first round of the playoffs last season. So far in 2023 the Cubs have handled business, most recently defeating Sterling Heights Stevenson 74-38. U-of-D will be tested in the coming weeks however, as it has to face Brother Rice, St. Mary’s and Grosse Pointe South back-to-back-to-back.

No. 8 East Lansing (3-0)

The Trojans have won each of their first three games by at least 34 points, including a 57-16 victory over Seaholm on Friday. The tough part of its schedule seems to be late in the season, so East Lansing has a chance to get on a roll.

No. 14 Grand Rapids Christian (3-0)

The Eagles are coming off of two straight wins on the road, most recently beating Hudsonville 60-50 on Saturday. Christian is set to play Byron Center next on December 15.

No. 15 Heritage (3-0)

Heritage has scored at least 60 points in all three of its games this season. They have over a week off in between games, so the next time the Hawks will be in action will be on December 19 against Freeland.

No. 16 South Christian (2-1)

No. 20 River Rouge (2-1)

After losing to Ferndale 60-57, the Panthers were able to flip the script against Flat Rock and win 57-54. River Rouge will be playing its first league game (Michigan Metro) against Hamtramck on December 12.

No. 21 Dearborn (2-0)

No. 22 Waverly (3-0)

The Warriors defeated rival Sexton 88-82 on Saturday. Waverly has scored almost 200 points combined over its last two games, and it’ll look to keep its momentum going when it faces Holt next.

No. 23 Powers Catholic (5-0)

The Chargers have begun 2023 on a tear, most recently beating Fenton 92-65. Powers will be tested against De La Salle at the end of the month, but it has to take care of North Branch on December 19 first.

No. 24 East Kentwood (1-1)

East Kentwood lost its first game of the season to River Rouge, but it was able to beat Lee by a score of 80-48. The Falcons are set to visit Saginaw next on December 16.
