Boys’ Basketball
Quyavant Douglas, Brooklyn Center
The senior guard scored 30 points in an 84-66 loss at Blake on Jan. 31, put up 34 in a thrilling win over Academy of Holy Angels the next day, and scored 38 points in a 78-73 win over Bloomington Kennedy on Feb. 3. He’s fourth in the state with a 30.2 points-per-game scoring average.
Henry Erickson, Windom
The senior point guard was three rebounds shy of a triple-double in a 107-83 win at St. James on Jan. 31. He had 18 points, 14 assists, seven rebounds, four steals and a block. On Feb. 3 he was four boards shy of a triple-double, with 27 points, 12 assists, and six rebounds. He leads all of Minnesota with 224 assists. The next highest total is 138.
Yaseen Muhammad, Higher Ground Academy
The senior shooting guard was two rebounds shy of a triple-double, with 17 points, 12 steals, eight boards and five assists in a 92-81 win over Parnassus Prep on Jan. 31. He had 22 points, 18 steals, seven rebounds and five assists in an 80-75 win over Lakes International Language Academy on Feb. 2. His 86 steals are the most in the state.
Aaron Kaykal, Princeton
The senior forward had 27 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in a 95-87 win over Big Lake, Jan. 31, and he was four blocks short of a triple-double on Feb. 3 with 21 points, 14 boards, four assists, three steals and the six blocks. His 53 blocks are the most in Minnesota.
Erick Reader, New Life Academy
The senior forward collected 24 rebounds and added 19 points, four assists and three steals in an 82-55 win over Cristo Rey Jesuit on Jan. 31. He’s third in the state in total rebounds (221) and fifth in rebounds per game (13)
Girls’ Basketball
Maddyn Greenway, Providence Academy
On Jan. 31, the freshman had a triple-double in a 73-52 win at Southwest Christian, scoring 26 points, dishing 13 assists and grabbing 12 rebounds. She came up an assist shy of another triple-double in an 87-41 win over Blake on Feb. 2, with 27 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and four steals. She’s second in Minnesota with 539 total points and a 29.9 points-per-game scoring average.
Anna Stromberg, Legacy Christian
The junior forward scored 58 points and grabbed 52 rebounds over three games during the week. On Jan. 31, she had 14 points and 10 boards. Two days later she scored 16 points and collected 15 rebounds, and two days after that she had 28 points and 27 rebounds. She leads the state in total rebounds (278) and rebounds per game (15.4).
Kate Thayer, Northome-Kelliher
The freshman guard was two assists shy of a quadruple-double in a 99-32 win at Littlefork-Big Falls on Feb. 2. She had 26 points, 12 rebounds, 11 steals and eight assists. She also had 28 points, nine boards and four steals in a 65-57 win over Fosston on Jan. 31. Her 114 steals are third-most in Minnesota.
Maci Farmer, Jackson County Central
The senior wing scored 35 points on 50-percent shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished seven assists and had eight steals in an 82-76 win over Worthington on Jan. 31. In a heartbreaking two-point loss at Windom on Feb. 2, she scored 29 points. She’s seventh in the state in scoring average with 23.8 points per game.
Ivy Lothenbach, St. Croix Prep
The junior guard scored 81 points over three games, hitting 14 three-pointers and shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc. She scored 23 points in a 75-50 loss to St. Croix Lutheran on Jan. 31, had 30 in a 73-49 drubbing of United Christian Academy on Feb. 2, and she put up 28 points in a 62-49 win at Legacy Christian, Feb. 4. She’s second in Minnesota with 71 three-pointers made.
