Congratulations to Jackson Academy junior Nae Nae Ellis for being voted SBLive’s Mississippi High School Girls Basketball Player of the Week!

Ellis scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Jackson Academy to a 53-25 win over Union in the championship game of the Lamar Christmas Bash. Ellis was named MVP of the tournament.

Ellis received70.54% of the vote, beating out Belmont's Macie Walker who finished with 21.82%. Madison Central’s Kennedy Ransom finished third 5.73% and Magee’s Lashaunte Payne was fourth with1.31%

Hama’ya Fielder, Neshoba Central: Fielder scored a game-high 23 points to lead Neshoba Central to a 74-30 win over Northwest Rankin.

Lashaunte Payne, Magee: Payne had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals in a 45-31 win over Mendenhall and scored 24 points in a 64-53 loss to Lake.

Kaylee Jones, Pillow Academy: Jones scored 15 points to lead Pillow Academy to a 53-30 win over Oxford in the Kirk Academy Classic.

Layla Carter, Vicksburg: Carter scored a game-high 16 points to lead Vicksburg to a 68-30 win over South Pike in the Christmas Round Ball Tournament.

Addyson Sherer, Presbyterian Christian:Sherer scored 17 points to lead PCS to a 49-16 win over Newton County Academy.

Kennedy Ransom, Madison Central: Ransom scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Madison Central to a 56-40 win over Vicksburg in the JPS Trustmark Holiday Basketball Showcase.

Macie Walker, Belmont: Walker scored 26 points to lead Belmont to a 62-31 win over Amory, then added 19 in a 50-32 victory over Rogers.
