Upset City: Hattiesburg knocks off Oak Grove 27-21 to move to 3-0

FOURTH QUARTER

- Hattiesburg wins! Oak Grove couldn’t convert on 4th-and-10 at midfield, and Hattiesburg is going to hang on to win this ballgame. The Tigers have upset the Warriors for the first time in five years. Final score: 27-21.

- Touchdown Oak Grove! The momentum has swung: Hattiesburg fumbles it away and Oak Grove’s Martez Blackwell makes them pay with a four-yard touchdown run. It’s 27-21 Hattiesburg with 6:36 to go in the ballgame.

- Touchdown Oak Grove! Kellen Hall made a fantastic throw and found his man in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown pass. It’s Hattiesburg 27, Oak Grove 14 with 7:45 to go.

- Touchdown Hattiesburg! The Tigers strike again. Demarcus Baker finds the end zone on third-and-goal from the four-yard line to put Hattiesburg ahead 27-7 with just under nine minutes to go. The extra point failed.

THIRD QUARTER

- We've reached the end of a scoreless third quarter. Hattiesburg was knocking at the door as we head to the fourth.

- Turnover on downs for Oak Grove. Warriors come up two yards short on a pass to the Hattiesburg 30-yard line. That’s where Hattiesburg will take over with 2:10 left in the third quarter.

- Turnover on down for Hattiesburg. The Tigers drove it down to the Oak Grove 20-yard line, but a jump ball in the end zone fell incomplete on fourth down, and the Warriors will take over. Neither offense has been very effective so far here in the second half. Hattiesburg can't finish a drive, and Oak Grove can't get anything going.

- Turnover on downs for Oak Grove. The Warriors went for it on 4th-and-7 near midfield, but the Hattiesburg defense held strong and forced an incomplete pass. Tigers are now driving near the Oak Grove 35-yard line.

SECOND QUARTER

- We've reached the end of the first half. Oak Grove is officially on upset alert, but they'll get the second-half kickoff.

- Touchdown Oak Grove! The Tigers were threatening again in Warrior territory, but Vance fumbled a snap and Drelin Warner picked it up and went 46 yards the other way for the score. With 12 seconds left int he half, It’s Hattiesburg 21, Oak Grove 7.

- Touchdown Hattiesburg! Deuce Vance hits Tyree Barnett for a 23-yard touchdown pass. With 8:38 left in the first half, it’s Hattiesburg 21, Oak Grove 0.

FIRST QUARTER

- Hattiesburg turnover on downs. Vance converted a key 4th-and-5 with his legs to keep the drive alive, but a pass on fourth-and-5 from the 11-yard line fell incomplete.

- We’ve got a fight on the field. Hattiesburg defensive lineman Kaden Smith has been ejected.

- Oak Grove fakes a punt, but turns it over on downs at their own 47-yard line. Hattiesburg will take over there. The mistakes are piling up for the Warriors.

- Touchdown Hattiesburg! Deuce Vance hits Tristan Keys in stride at the 12-yard line and he carries it in for a 54-yard touchdown reception. It’s 14-0 Hattiesburg with 6:59 left in the first quarter.

- Oak Grove punts it away, and Hattiesburg will take over at their own 40. Oak Grove has had five pre-snap penalties, which is not like the second-ranked Warriors.

- Touchdown Hattiesburg! Deuce Vance puts Hattiesburg on the board with a 10-yard touchdown run. Oak Grove picked up a personal foul for a late hit, too. The extra point is good, and Hattiesburg leads Oak Grove 7-0 with 11:33 left in the first quarter.

- Hattiesburg took the opening kickoff and will have the ball first to kick this thing off.

- The two teams are on the field. Hattiesburg wearing their white uniforms with white pants and purple helmets. Oak Grove is in their black jerseys with black pants.
